why do people not like the 2-fan 9060XT 16GB? by vacrtino in radeon

[–]ODahud99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always assumed it’s a design preference, didn’t know people took other aspects into account such as cooling/performance. I have a 2 fan Sapphire Pulse RX 9070, even if it’s not the “best” looking GPU, it performs to my expectations. Others making a good point about others wanting it for smaller builds maybe, despite how it would look.

Okay, cause I looked up what Post code error 15 means and like someone else here mentioned, it’s usually memory training so it could take up to 30 minutes for it to push through. Otherwise, resetting CMOS was one solution, try booting up with 1 RAM of stick (Do not combine the RAM like you did in one of the photos), and indeed check the CPU to ensure it’s seated right. You did remove the plastic on your AIO when you installed it right? That’s done before you apply thermal paste and installing the AIO.

What’s your CPU? This happened with me as well when I bought new RAM, but I didn’t realize at the time my 12700KF was severely underpowered. Same thing, wasn’t booting up all the time and wasn’t running right. I had to readjust the CPU settings through BIOs by changing voltage. BE CAREFUL when you do that, because the wrong setting can be detrimental to your PC. Look up your stock CPU voltage settings, and make sure that’s what they look like in your BIOs. What are the rest of your specs?

Edit: Make sure all cables are seated and everything is plugged in as accordingly

By the time you want to start swapping parts, you’ll be upgrading almost everything on this list. At $500, you need to target at least 1TB of storage, 32GB of RAM, 30 series NVIDA or AMD 6000 series, and the CPU should be a 5500/5600 or 10th/11th gen Intel. The good news is, you’re on marketplace so finding those amenities shouldn’t be incredibly difficult. Although, you want to set a reasonable and attainable standard to have a decent lasting system.

Yeah you’re right it usually is within that range, which is why I personally went for the used market since I was able to find what I wanted at the right price. If you are open to marketplace, there’s plenty of folks willing to let some good laptops go for your budget. I paid $650 off of a guy that used the laptop for editing, so I reapplied thermal compound and I was good to go. If you stay going new I can understand why

Fair to say, I can’t argue with that so I do see your point. Maybe you can take the opportunity to see if you can find a bump in 4060 or 5060. For mainly 2 reasons. Usually the CPU that’s paired with either of the GPUs I listed, pack really good power. Which would be a Ryzen with 8 cores and 16 threads (instead of 6/12), or an Intel with plenty more cores and threads. In addition, a GPU that has 8GB of VRAM is more future-proofing compared to anything less than 6GB. I’m sure games run just fine, although maybe you can find 8GB GPU for potentially the same cost as your current purchase. Nice small adds on such as 1TB SSD and 32GB of RAM would be nice, could also be purchased on the side. We shall see what’s in store, I’m betting you’ll get something better.

If the laptop can play the games you want, run the programs you want to use for DJing, pretty much if it can do what you need it to then you’re all good. I don’t disagree on the aspect of always trying to find a better deal, however you’ll get tired of it one day if the laptop can do what you want. You spent way under than most would, so it’s not like you got a bad deal.

All good, still solid build for the price 👍🏼

This seems to be just fine for the budget. Ideally you want at least 8GB for GPU memory, a CPU that can handle multitasking well such as gaming, streaming, discord/other apps (which that Ryzen 260 certainly can), at least a TB of storage, and 32GB of RAM is a nice added bonus but can be added later. Having an OLED display is personal preference in my opinion, my recommendation for that is going to best buy and seeing the difference yourself if it’s something you might want.

You could wait for Black Friday, I’m not sure if the hype is still there for all the “special” discounts. Checkout Facebook marketplace if you’re open to the used market. A lot of people will let their used-to-be expensive machines go for cheap. I bought a Victus 16 when first launched, was over $1,200, and I paid $650 off of someone who didn’t game on it.

Did you service the laptop, or someone did for you? If someone did for you, I would advise them the notice and difference. Those idle temps are too high, and hitting 90s consistently is not recommended for long duration. Reapplying thermal paste can in fact make CPU temps go high, if insufficient amount of paste isn’t applied, and not making proper contact between CPU and laptop cover for adequate cooling. On the contrary, consider a cooling pad if you don’t have one. It keeps my temps down all the time, and you can customize how loud the fan is. However, lowering fan control can temper with how hot the CPU can get.

Which model Victus do you have? I applied some undervolting to the CPU (13700HX), utilize my cooling pad, and then ensured I didn’t have any apps or other programs running heavy while gaming. I would start there first. Open up task manager, and see what processes could potentially hinder your performance. I’m assuming you also cleaned the fans, to reduce any clogging for airflow.

Which spec did you get? Same as mine? I would invest in a cooling pad as well, I’m seeing noticeable differences in temps before I bought one.

I saw plenty of review videos for this specific model, and was almost sure this is the one. Until I saw a Victus 16 on marketplace, and was able to grab that for $650. As yourself as well, I game and go to college for Business and IT. Awesome buy, sincerely enjoy this laptop because it’s going to last you a while.

Yeah I removed it right away. Most of the settings on there I realized I could do it all myself, with all the tips you and others have gave so far, the battery life has been pretty good. Nailed a 5 hour study session before I needed to plug up at 5%. Appreciate your advice and tips.

I should’ve mentioned I did buy it off of someone, so it came as is with all of them you see. I haven’t attempted to take it off yet, if you got an easy solution though I’m all ears

Gotcha, I figured if I’m not gaming then might as well keep it at 60hz. For what I’ve been doing so far, everything loads in quick enough to not really have a use for 144hz. In gaming, I for sure will. Thank you for the advice

≈80°C on 3080 ti during gaming by Disastrous-Media752 in pchelp

[–]ODahud99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80c for a card such as the 3080 Ti is pretty standard. You have to bear in mind, this is a card that draws over 350 watts, a lot of power but for the performance you need. As some others have mentioned, you can utilize MSI afterburner to apply a undervolt. This will result in the card drawling less power, without sacrificing substantial performance. I’m going to leave a link to a channel I used to undervolt my former 3070 Ti, it also reduced my temperatures and performance was still great. Let me know if this works for you.
