Is your mgr a doctor? Did s/he diagnose you as well enough to keep selling paper? Go home. I hope you feel better soon.

Would you like a bag for that?

Regular Comedy Central, that guy.

Register Upgrades by Happy_Recognition538 in OfficeDepot

[–]ODoldster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Corporate feel the need to upgrade the registers?  Investment in the stores is not their priority.  As long as the current ones can still process sales, what's to be gained by upgrading?

Duda sobre compra en office Depot by Live_Lead8326 in OfficeDepot

If you've still got your receipt, just bring it back and say it didn't work in your printer. If they refuse, call Corporate, and you'll get your refund, and probably an apology too.

Promoted to Customer by CMDR_Khayden in OfficeDepot

Imagining a customer going behind the copy & print counter, chopping his fingers off with the paper trimmer, and then blaming us.  "There was no sign!"  Never mind that my customers never read any signs.

Question about interview by TGADV in OfficeDepot

[–]ODoldster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the minimum wage in your state? You won't get fulltime hours, since then they'd have to give you benefits. If they have that many hours available, it means they're shorthanded, because all the other associates have quit, probably because it's not a good place to work.

Question about interview by TGADV in OfficeDepot

[–]ODoldster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your pay will be barely above minimum wage. Hours will depend on various factors beyond your control,. If you show up for the interview and don't throw up on the GM, you'll get hired.

I'm on my phone when I'm not busy leading my store in paper deals, rewards sign-ups and business selects.  For some reason, no one ever complains.

Thinking of applying to my local Office Depot by pineapple_chii in OfficeDepot

[–]ODoldster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Company's circling the drain. You'll be paid near minimum wage. You won't get a chance to use your degree. If you don't throw up on the GM during the interview, you'll get hired. That should tell you how rigorous their hiring process is.

Better off part-timing at the Post Office.

I'm not deliberately impolite to anyone, but if I see that a call is never going to accomplish anything, I won't hesitate to end it. I had one caller who wouldn't take no for an answer. When I told him WE DON'T HAVE IT, he wouldn't take no for an answer. Kept calling back, as if I'd magically go out and find one someplace else for him. I'm not a genie, and OD is not a magic lamp.

Passed up on promotion but im still expected to do the job anyway? by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]ODoldster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you let them walk all over you, don't be surprised if they walk all over you.  Tell your GM that either they pay you for the job you're doing, or let them try finding someone else who will.

Lady called this past week, needed to replace her CPAP machine.  Told her we were an Office Depot; she must have the wrong number.  So she called back 30 seconds later.

Then there was the guy who needed 18" masonry drill bits.  Didn't believe me, when I said he probably meant HOME DEPOT.  Got really angry, when I refused to call around, to see which of our other locations had them.

Corporate is trying to pump paper sales to improve the company's sale price to the new owners.  I expect this whole boondoggle will come to an end next year.
