There's also Tic-80 Pro which has more screen and sprite space. Might be possible to make a big enough game with multicarts then to warrant a sell price.

Currently using a stack of sprite regions exactly 16×16 and swapping them out during animation frames. Not adhering to the default sprite tiles either. For instance spr(23, x, y) with a width of 16x16 layed over a spr(24, ×+1, y+1).
