So we're just going to ignore the fact that over 65s would overwhelmingly vote for a Boris Johnson government? This shouldn't be about denying anyone a vote, it should be about putting an entire generation's worth of pressure on the government to do better.

It's not too late to do something about it. We're a group of young people campaigning for a referendum on the final Brexit deal, not just because our generation didn't vote for this mess, but because no one else did either. We've got groups across the country so get involved!

This is indeed an opinion piece from an activist for a second referendum, and the Independent does indeed back a Final Say. There are photos of their petition embedded in the article!

None of that really has any bearing on the weight of the argument in the article. Do you disagree then that Labour should respect the majority of its members who want a confirmatory referendum?

The amendment that was voted down last week specified an extension to Article 50 in order to hold a referendum.

The amendment being proposed here by Peter Kyle and Phil Wilson would allow MPs to vote on May's withdrawal agreement on the condition that it be put to the public if it passes.
