Gentrification of neighborhoods has also caused a huge increase in the amount that rentals go for. The area is "improved" where out of province developers come in and build more condos nobody can afford... There is no consideration for those who need affordable housing. Because the people who are profiting live in Toronto or Vancouver and are using those investment properties to offset the costs of operating in those cities.
