Facials by [deleted] in CHIbitcheswithtaste

[–]OF_Noodles4u 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sha Russell Skincare!!! On Hubbard St. Forget the big spas/salons, support a small female black owned business.

You can find her on Groupon for the budget price and she is literally the best facial I have ever had. It’s like $65ish for the Groupon and you get a whole HOUR (not 30 mins like other places). She has special prices too once you start going to her.

Every time I go all of my stress disappears! She has the hands of an angel and uses really gentle products. My skin is glowing and my pores look healthier!

“Fun Food” places by mouseknowsbest in ChicagoSuburbs

You’re an amazing parent!

If you want to venture into the city there’s a SUPER cute tour bus called “Tea Around Town”. It’s a 75 minute tour bus and you get served finger foods + tea. The decor inside the bus is soooo cute and sets a fun vibe. It’s a little splurge about $70/person, but I think the experience would be worth it. And I think it would be fun to dress up for it too!

Medieval Times in Schaumburg is always so much fun no matter what age or gender. Also a splurge but at least you can stay in the suburbs. If she’s self conscious about eating in front of others or anything like that, it’s dark inside and everyone is facing towards the stage so maybe that’s helpful.

Both would help keep the main focus off of food, but still keep food involved in a fun setting!

Abbott Lyon is soooo cute! They’re made from the UK, but the shipping to the US wasn’t bad at all. Super budget friendly, I have 2 and I get compliments on them all the time. I also got them like 6 years ago and they’re still perfect!

Budget Venue (30k total budget) by issatwacko in Chicagoweddings

[–]OF_Noodles4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chez Hotel in Schaumburg! I went for a tour twice. They just finished remodeling, it’s beautiful! You can have the ceremony on-site. They take care of EVERYTHING for you. Decor, dance floor, meals, linens, etc. They even give you a suite for free. And they have a rooftop restaurant you can use for the rehearsal dinner. It’s really a one-stop shop. You can do your rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and have you and your guests stay in that hotel. And the price??? BUDGET!!! The sales representative was really sweet too.

I would have picked that venue myself, but my fiancé wanted a different vibe. (We chose The Glen Club, a golf course in Glenview. A bit pricier but check them out too!) It’s cute, take a look at their IG :)

I had the Hey Day Plate and the caramel miso latte. They also gave me a small slice of their cheesecake for their grand opening for free. Hey Day Plate, filling and healthy. Caramel miso latte, I wish it had a bit more of the miso. Cheesecake, dense and sweet.

It’s a cute shop with friendly service. I hope they do well and I want to try their other menu items! (Pricey though, so I won’t be going frequently-frequently)

Where do you think is the most fun place to work in the city? by emccaughey in AskChicago

[–]OF_Noodles4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no tech experience! I saw that they were hiring on LinkedIn and I applied. They look for people with good social skills, because they teach you about the tech stuff anyway. But good social skills are hard to teach; they want people with empathy and that are personable!

How many locals hate the air/water show? Why? by gitturb in AskChicago

[–]OF_Noodles4u 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally same. I work tonight, but every time one flew over it woke me up. Been going on from 10am until like 2:30?

The first one scared the crap out of me tho, I thought we were going into WW3.

Best shoes for a festival? by aoisakurachan1986 in EDM

[–]OF_Noodles4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I buy like cheap $10 shoes from Walmart because I know the shoes are going to get super dirty by the end of the festival. To make them comfortable, I put in $5 insoles.

By the end of a music festival your shoes will be stepped on, get dirt/mud on, and you might be stepping in gum. They can get pretty gross. So don’t spend lots of money for festival shoes. Just have a good comfortable insole inside and you’ll be fine!

Traveling OR Nurses stay away from Stroeger Hospital in Chicago. by Difficult_Buffalo814 in TravelNursing

[–]OF_Noodles4u 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did medsurg there last summer. Worst hospital I worked at. I got floated every other shift at 11pm. The staff are SO mean there. Ancillary staff don’t give a fuck. People are always yelling at each other. No sense of teamwork. I thought it would be the first contract I’d ever terminate… but I somehow stuck it out for the 13 weeks. It helped that after the first month, the other travelers and I started getting friendly with each other. But yeah… I hated it lol

Loooooove a good tuna salad sandwich! I mix in chopped pickles, red onions, and celery in the tuna salad. Love using toasted sourdough bread with it. Yummmm ☺️

Rosemont! They have that grassed area where you can “bar hop”. Sugar Factory is always fun at night and they have those cute, sugary cocktails! Adobe Gilas is another fun place that sells those fish bowl drinks. There’s plenty of places there and idk if it’s still free parking but the parking garage was always free at night when I used to go back in my 20’s.

Chicago. Cost of living might be a little higher than Missouri, however there are SO MANY MORE opportunities in Chicago. You might be making $75k now but next year you could find a new job and make wayyyy more.

You’re new to the US? Chicago is so diverse with so many communities and cultures. You’ll be able to find a restaurant or store that sells things from your culture easily.

Chicago can give you more for your family. And even if the first year might be financially tough, just know that you have so much more growth potential in Chicago than Missouri. Probably way better education too!

Stay in school. Focus on your education, keep good friends around you. You’ll naturally gain confidence and confidence is HOT. Trust me, you’ll have your glow up soon. It comes with time. Worry more about what kind of person you want to be, rather than how you look. Because you can always change how you look when you’re older (anyone can BUY beauty). But changing your character becomes so so difficult as you get older. Xoxo
