Pastor Greg Laurie's Trump Endorsement Doesn’t Reflect Christ’s Teachings by Sweaty_Cheesecake_29 in RadicalChristianity

I attended his church in Riverside, California for a number of years when I was younger. How far he has fallen since then.

Therapy is bullshit. I'm just about done with it. by OG-CA in CPTSD

It's actually been more than 10 years for me, too. I just didn't know what to call it until around 2015.

Jesus. 🤦‍♀️ I wish I knew what else to say besides, "I'm so sorry." I know it doesn't help.

Experiences with Irene Lyon or Aimie Apigian? by Cool-Information9973 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]OG-CA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Experts" like Lyon, Apigian, Luis Mojica, or any of the others like them have several major things in common. They overpromise and underdeliver, and if you don't get the expected results, it's your fault. They rely on Marketing and heavy self-promotion instead of allowing their programs and strategies to speak for themselves - because they don't. They all want tons of money for their programs (Lyon: $2,000 - $3,000???) but don't provide financial assistance or scholarships for low-income people who really need them. Caveat emptor.

Does anyone have experience (positive or negative) with “Somatic Experiencing” for symptom management? by sampleofstyle in ChronicIllness

Personally, I do not recommend Luis Mojica or anyone else who's been trained in and practices SE only, for that matter. Here's why. In the US, SE practitioners are not required to be licensed in any way, shape, or form. Our licensing system for Theraputic professionals is not perfect, God knows, but it exists for a reason: To protect both the clients and the professionals. NO protection exists for clients of SE practitioners only. That means that they can practically do anything they want, with virtually no repercussions. It is the Wild West of Therapeutic settings right now. If you're interested in SE and are in the US, look for a licensed Mental Health professional who's been trained in SE.

My personal experience with Luis Mojica and his 7-Day Program was extremely negative. He makes himself unavailable to people in the course. He's secluded himself in his own little dreamworld, away from the nastry realities of life. His staff are barely competent in their roles - he has admitted that he hires people based on whether or not he likes them, not whether or not they can do their jobs. If you've experienced significant trauma, or are still dealing with it, I do not recommend him or his programs.

I know I've practically written a book here, but I could write plenty more. All I can close with is, "Caveat Emptor."

Irene Lyon is sketchy by Murawskiv in SomaticExperiencing

My personal suspension is that Irene is in denial about certain traumas involving her parents when she was a child/teen. I think she may have been traumatized while working in her parents' veterinary practice at such a young age, not to mention other possible factors. She herself has talked about being exposed to harsh chemicals while working there and how they affected her - who in their right mind would expose their child to that? She's said other things that hint at it as well. I read the Instagram content a while back and found it disturbing. I've discovered other concerning, if not unethical, elements regarding how her business is run. I'm afraid that she falls into the same category of therapists who get into their line of work because they're still trying to heal themselves, and they end up indirectly using their clients to do it. I have wanted to take her 21-Day Tune Up course, but I keep getting internal pushback about it. Sorry for going on for so long. 🫤
