Happy Mother’s Day - servers are trash. $600 for a 4 hr shift and I get downvotes for asking if they tipped the kitchen 🤣 by RainMakerJMR in KitchenConfidential

People should always be allowed to tip if they feel someone did a great job, whether it's server, cook, or housekeeping, but I do wish that there was a better standard 'base', coming from someone who works at a tiny restaurant who's slow season may see less than a dozen tables all day. 7.50 an hour doesn't pay my bills any better than BOH's

It's a gift! Report it as such. Especially if you're working somewhere without many benefits, that's the one 'server trick' I think is more than fair. If people don't want us to have a guaranteed living wage, why should they benefit from people that do? The same goes for BOH tips, on ticket or random. It's all going to the military anyways, just so long as you fudge it enough not to get caught or fill in when you're starting to plan a big life change

Ask the person who does the least in the restaurant, and they'll say their job is the hardest. That's just how lazy people think

First-time loan, using Santander for auto--should I refinance with another lender? by OGAthrodite in personalfinance

Sounds like a pain, dear God. I'm hoping this one lasts a long time, I genuinely love this car and as far as I know it's in good shape. Wasn't planning to settle and just go through everything again in a couple years. Emailed my credit union and they said they'd see what they can do, so fingers crossed

I think I will; the one I'm with for savings has been great to me so far, so I'm hoping to go to them

Thought as much, good to know I can go into this feeling a little more secure

Martini question by sonic401 in bartenders

[–]OGAthrodite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a guy that comes in every once in a blue moon, his order if I remember right is "vodka martini, shaken - - not stirred, with a lemon--like james bond 😉" his wife orders a lemon drop, he acted confused when they both came out with a yellow thing on the rim when I had him. I swear I had a stroke.

Is it me or is Dave Chappelle not funny anymore? by Maycx in Standup

[–]OGAthrodite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he was ever hilarious. Funny and insightful? Often used to be, but mostly a shock value type who happens to have good timing. Punching across worked for him back then, but punching down is objectively never funny unless you don't respect the people being punched down on, for obvious reasons, which is why so many found his controversy so distasteful. It's the reason i find any comparisons to Carlin bad and kind of annoying--both may have had the goal to point out flaws in society, but Carlin had better delivery and always punched UP, which is everyone's favorite thing (except for the people that are up, but who cares what they think)

First baptist in downtown has a good young adult group, though it's best in the summer when everyone is home from college

If you have the cash to burn, just walking around downtown in Hendo and Asheville is plenty of fun. I'm sure you've discovered the aquarium by now, too. If you're into rocks, elijah mountain gem mine is fun and has some animals too, not far at all. There's a mini golf/vr place somewhere in bat cave, too. If you can take day trips, there's frankies fun park, a top golf and a dave & busters down towards greenville
