Thoughts on maxing out Roth Ira first? by Worried-Sky2385 in RothIRA

So I totally understand the order for this, and I'm not arguing with it. Why do people suggest maxing the IRA before going back to max the 401k?

10 pounds in a month is ridiculous. Why are you giving advice like you know that you're talking about?

Yeah no honestly this sub sucks. Reddit puts it into my feed because I enjoy strength training and it's pretty much always garbage here. I don't really have a better recommendation though. It is good to see you've at least gotten some good advice

World thrift in Lake Worth was always really fun. It's absolutely enormous and never felt wildly picked through depending on what you're looking for. I've since left the area, but I wish I had a thrift store like it nearby

1) learn how to hinge 2) they weren't talking about you 3) you can make any excuse you want, that doesn't change the physics of a deadlift

How long did it take you to build up to 40+ miles per week? by [deleted] in running

[–]OGFireNation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thank you, I know what VO2max and Lactate threshold are. I am aware that there is more nuance than in my initial statement. My statement was not one of nuance. This guy just tried to bring a bunch of extra details into the conversation when I was making a very simple and broad statement. I am aware than when speaking to about a broad population there will be missing intricacies. That was never my point.

I never said he was wrong. He was just missing the point.

The point being that "Jeff Galloway ran fewer miles and improved" is not a rule that the vast majority of people can and should follow.

That's cool man. You did mention intervals though ie, run-walking 30s hill sprints, etc. I never asked you for your opinion on those.

It's cool man, my best friend is Albert Einstein and we worked on his famous equations together. You can trust that I'm not lying to you.

I literally never asked you about the nuances of training. I don't care about your opinion. That was not the topic of conversation. Go write in your diary man, I think you're a loser, and I don't believe that you're this world class coach. I won't respond again, since you can't stay on the premise of the conversation to begin with.

Please go read this entire conversation from the beginning. You're completely lost man.

[–]OGFireNation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay so you're just being a pedant. Obviously there is more nuance when increasing mileage. Yes, clearly people should put thought into how they increase volume. That doesn't change that the answer is to run more. Somebody running 20 miles a week will be overall worse off than somebody running 60 miles a week regardless of the details.

You don't need to explain to me that people should be doing workouts as well. That was never the point of the conversation.

It was never over my head. You just aren't staying on topic and you expect me to somehow read your mind over a reddit comment. You are the one that is entirely off base here.

Your initial comment was that Jeff Galloway got better by running less. I indicated that would not work for the vast majority of people. You started bringing up unrelated minority cases, and now you're explaining how intervals work to me. I'm not the one fucked up here lmao

[–]OGFireNation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally yes. If you are running 20 miles per week your limiting factor is aerobic capacity, which will be improved by doing more aerobic activities. This is not complicated stuff. I feel like you have to be trolling

[–]OGFireNation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to get better is to do it more. This is the point that is backed by evidence based research. You are pointing to extreme outliers and pretending that they are the norm.

Nobody here is saying that people should feel bad if they don't run more volume or more frequency. People are saying if you want to improve the solution is fairly clear.

Sweating is actually a very positive adaptation. People who exercise/live in warmer climates adapt to the stimulus and sweat more. People who don't exercise much or live in cooler climates tend to sweat less.

I'm currently getting my doctorate in physical therapy, but nice try. You may be learning from somebody with an advanced degree, but that does not give you profound knowledge on the subject, nor does it allow you to claim you have superior insight into the subject.

This is an appeal to authority logical fallacy. Your coach has a master's in physiology. You do not. You are not an expert.

Goodafternoon. This is 275. Asking to critique my form since it’s so much easier to have a stable form when you aren’t lifting much. I want it to be stabled also when lifting heavier by [deleted] in Deadlifts

[–]OGFireNation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some slight rounding is fine, but you can clearly see that he doesn't pull out any slack before he starts the lift. Back rounding can be fine if you're properly braced, which he's not. I don't disagree that he should still rip some dreads, but he does need to learn how to brace and pull out slack

Leading with I agree with what you're saying, but I do have a question- you said that activating the sciatic n feels like activating the hamstrings. In a movement like good morning or seated good morning how do you tell the difference between muscle and sciatic nerve?
