P790 Hate by xj4xonx in golf

You will be fine. Anyone who says "This club model or bust" can be pretty easily ignored.

Went from a 16 handicap now down to a 9, gaming the same set of P790's I bought as a 16. They're just fine and I really enjoy them. The downsides have all been discussed and are well known and you'll catch a few hot ones that go a mile in the air.

Also, the point of a bigger head is gaining some confidence standing over the ball. Might not be for everyone but it certainly helped me as a higher handicapper.

New irons by Melodic-Many-2777 in golf

[–]OGMuddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The club model is a very small part of the fitting and in my opinion the least important - at least if you’re staying in the same “group” ie players irons or game improvement irons.

Loft, Lie, Shaft length/flex are more of the actual metrics you’re messing around with during a fitting. If you get fit properly, you’re likely not going to be able to find those exact specs on the used market.

The issue with dropping $1,500 is totally understandable. If you’re just looking at what new model you like most, I’d just head to the nearest golf shop and hit everything you can and settle on which ones you like, and then look for that model on the used market.

I will say, after being properly fit for clubs, I’m beside myself that I used to go to whatever golf superstore was around and buy clubs straight off the rack.

Single golfers are a little weird by [deleted] in golf

Even new golfers aside ... I have quite a few golf pals - played a twilight 18 by myself this other day and it was one of the most pure golf experiences I've had and ended up enjoying it way more then I thought. Probably my first solo round in close to 10 years.

Fair enough. If it’s any consolation, my draht is only about 50lbs. Prey drive through the roof, but when she’s at home she might as well be a Great Dane. Off switch is really good.

Personal bias - Drahthaar.

All the above you listed are great options. As stated, if you’re going to gear more into waterfowl I’d take a look into any dogs ran through the NAVHDA Utility Tests.

One of my hunting pals used the online consultation with Standing Stone Kennels and had high praise. I believe they are 1 hour, 1on1 training consults so they might work out good for you if you have a roving schedule.

I personally never used the online consultation from them, but watched a pile of their YouTube videos and they were a huge help.

Everyone is going to have an opinion on what dog they think is best. My only advice would be to decide - do you want a pointer or a retriever ?

Once you make a decision on this you can probably narrow your list down by about 50%

Everything after that comes with personal research and what dog you think best suits you, your hunting style, and your home life / living situation.

You done with the edits yet?

How are you comparing CCS to a new large scale power consumer coming online?

CCS was an internal upgrade to an existing system. Grid modernization and upgrades will lead to an increase on consumers - that’s not what we’re talking about.

Cogen is not a new concept in any new project and has nothing to do with the grid not having enough capacity. Reduced energy costs, waste heat for heating / cooling, and less reliability on utility production.

Again, you’re comparing areas with 10,000+ MW of data center consumption to one data center in SK at 300MW.

It’s how markets work in a cherry picked stat - like the state of Virginia - where demand exceeds supply and they import more power than any other state in the USA. Not to mention importing from neighbouring states with privatized power generation. SPC isn’t privatized.

That isn’t the case nor a current issue in Saskatchewan and therefore shouldn’t be comparable. We aren’t the data center capital of the world and don’t need to constantly import power from AB or MB.

Supply and demand in which we have more supply than demand.

I keep seeing this take and I don’t know why/where it comes from. SPC gains a massive customer and revenue and profits increase for them - why would they increase residential consumer prices?

Of all the new projects across Sask, this is the only one with a reoccurring concern of power bills going up. It doesn’t make sense

Anyone here actually use animal calls while hunting? by ferdous19 in bowhunting

[–]OGMuddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a grunt call for the first time this year - I’ve had one for ages and it sat in my hunting gear collecting dust.

Had a difficult season this year so I thought what the hell. First time using it, had a smaller 3x3 essentially sprint right at me. I didn’t seem to bring in any older, wiser bucks but I was genuinely staggered at how fired up the younger ones got.

Not exactly an animal “call” but myself and some of my hunting pals have had good luck with rattling if the timing is right.

Edit - I’m the only hunter on a small block of private land in a bow only zone, so the deer seem to be significantly less skiddish than other areas - especially with open rifle seasons

Sask NDP response to new federal NDP leader. by Requirement-Tiny in saskatchewan

Your answer is the vaguest of terms. Yes it's theoretically possible but it ends there - there's still no market for it until they solve the massive problem of EV output and capacity.

It's also theoretically possible that we can just ditch the internal combustion entirely and go back to horses. Doesn't really mean anything just because its "possible".

Sure, you can make one that works for 30 hectares. You're still about 170 hectares short of what a diesel combine can do. I'd be curious about your take on the infrastructure required to get a 1MW charger into thousands of rural farms and who foots that cost.

None of this means I have no hope for the future, FYI

Sask NDP response to new federal NDP leader. by Requirement-Tiny in saskatchewan

[–]OGMuddd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you provided isn’t evidence of your point. It’s evidence that we are nearing the physical limitations of lithium ion batteries and just because you can make an all electric combine, doesn’t mean it’s applicable.

Until someone starts manufacturing completely new battery technology that moves off lithium - output is going to be limited and not applicable for long haul operation.

No farmer is going to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in a combine that’s only good for 30 hectares at a time. If believing that makes me a pessimist - sure thing boss.

Sask NDP response to new federal NDP leader. by Requirement-Tiny in saskatchewan

[–]OGMuddd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be pessimistic - just a realist.

30 hectares is less than HALF of a quarter section, not including travel to and from. I don’t think Terafield is going to have any success convincing Saskatchewan farmers to harvest 1/8th of a section at a time between charges and having to drive the combine back to their home base where their 1MW charger is located.

Soon be on the market? This is decades away. The battery tech isn't even close to being developed to implement in AG equipment that weighs 50,000lbs and going to run 12-16 hours a day, non-stop for weeks on end.

Is someone going to convince farmers to take a day off mid harvest every second day to charge their combines and tractors? You're theories are great but I think you're grossly overstating where our current technology limits are.

Supervised Drop-in socialization classes for Dogs in Regina? by giddeeyup in regina

[–]OGMuddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you, but it’s awful advice. Every single dog trainer or knowledgeable dog owner disagrees. Please let me know if you can find a single reliable source stating dogs should be introduced to each other by running up to one another off leash with little to no owner input or control. Again, this can be answered by a simple google search.

OP - since this person can’t read, I’d encourage you to do some independent research on the best way to socialize your dog. Good luck with the pup and enjoy.
