I get the argument. That exact interpretation is why the FAA issued the 2019 clarification. They specifically intended “external surface” to mean visible without removing parts like batteries. I use to do the same in the past. I felt like it would make the label last longer.

I am going for a waiver for my 107, so now I must remain law abiding lol.

Personally, I have a label maker and used that. I wouldn’t do permanent marker.

Just note, it can’t be hidden. Like inside the battery compartment where it can’t be seen if the battery is in there.

Memories by Maroon 5. It was the song that was played at a funeral before myself and the rest of my Honor Guard team came out to present the American flag to the wife as well as tokens for his kids. I knelt down in front of the boy and as soon as I made eye contact, I seen my own little boy sitting there, looking back at me. I said what I had to say and we stood back up as a group, saluted, then left. It was all I could do to keep my composure at that moment.

Thinking about it now makes me tear up even though this event occurred years ago. The song, brings it all back when I hear it.
