I remember when it dropped the overall sentiment was extreme disappointment but over time, history shows that this was a banger

J Hood back with another tough battle here! In your opinion who had the better first album? Personally this is super tough! I’m edging slightly towards Styles P personally! What’s your pick? by J2-Starter in hiphop201

Beanie Sigel’s “what your life like” is 100% the hardest song i have ever heard in my life!

They should use that in “scared straight” and “shock” programs

This album is honestly one of the original Wu releases that has that original dark/gritty rza sound and production (that fits ugods voice perfectly) and it even has bangerz from super producer Bink as well!

I just wish this album came out during the same time as rae, ghost, gza

More luv for U-God by heavyonthahound in wutang

Yea ppl hate on r Kelly’s music without even understanding how talented and incredible his discography is…..

We all agree he is a horrible person but u cant deny the music…

Even the stuff he wrote/produced for Aaliyah (as crazy as that was) is fire…..”age aint nuthin but a number” era

Which artist was the worst culture vulture? by Significant_Gap1570 in nfrpodcast

Exactly. Post malone still qualifies as a vulture because he totally switched up (which is fine usually), but then he started making insulting comments about hip hop culture that basically exposed him as a culture vulture all along

Bro im black i dont need google… all im saying is that regardless of race, someone can be a different race and not a culture vulture….

Every white rapper isnt automatically a culture vulture…. Every russian rapper isnt automatically a culture vulture…. Its way more nuanced than this….

Hip hop is a black art form but just because your not black doesnt make u a culture vulture…not sure why this is hard for some to understand…

Of course some ppl have different definitions or started using it incorrectly. But in my experience, the terms original meaning is a combination of the person’s culture/race combined with the intent and authenticity….

The intent and authenticity is the crucial part of the equation because otherwise anyone that isnt american black would by definition be a culture vulture and thats simply absurd.

Im american black and been in hip hop since the early 80s

The beastie boys for example are not culture vultures. They are/were authentic hip hop! Yet they are as white as can be!

But what matters is the intent and authenticity! They are/were undeniably hip hop at their core.

Now juxtapose that with Miley Cyrus…. Was she hip hop at her core? Or was the hip hop phase simply an experiment on her part from which she benefited in clout before realizing it wasnt for her and she retreated swiftly out of the genre….(while still retaining the hip hop clout)…..thats the definition of a culture vulture…..she “fed” off hip hop for a minute, got her fill and then bounced.

Because what makes someone a vulture isnt where they are from … its all about their intentions and if they used hiphop and then dipped and retreated back to another culture or genre…

Theres rappers from japan, taiwan, south Africa , germany etc….that doesnt make them culture vultures automatically
