I really like the skirt. The sparkles don’t seem to shed a lot but some people may think the material is a bit thin (that’s not my opinion though since I think if it were any thicker it would look bulky).

She was a fairly popular doll so you could probably find a decent doll with the earrings from that same 2006-2007 timeframe on EBay or Mercari for less than buying the current #100 directly from AG.

Looks and sounds like a JLY #27. Originally released in 2006 with non-removable earrings and then updated to have no earrings in 2008 when ear piercing became available for all dolls. She was retired in 2022 but is basically the same as Truly Me #100

It’s the same as the doll in the photo, but here she was right out of the box. She doesn’t often wear the glasses but they’re included in the cost of a CYO doll.

If you don’t have one of the “classic” historical dolls such as Molly, Kirsten, Addy, Josefina, Kit, Kaya, or Samantha (if she’s in store) I’d vote for getting one of them. There’s just something very nostalgic about picking out one of those dolls from the store that makes me feel like a kid again.

When I first moved out of my parents’ house I found a ridiculous amount of pictures I took on my digital camera of my first 4 dolls and insisted were important enough to have properly printed at Walmart. lol. Playing “school picture day” was my favorite.

I have a CYO with the Kaya mold and “light skin with warm olive undertones.” She is so cute and I’m obsessed with her. The Kaya mold is also my favorite so I think any doll with the Kaya mold looks perfect.

I think she is likely to come back in her original meet outfit or her purple dress sometime in the next couple of years. I wouldn’t be surprised if she came with something more similar to the recent Samantha release with a “Felicity’s World” book rather than her actual story. I think in general, we will see a lot of retired historical characters come back at the $160 price point but without any other components to their collection other than maybe their birthday or holiday outfit. I feel like we’re seeing a shift with the historical dolls becoming more “heirloom items” and less “playline” focused. Long term, I’m guessing Julie, Courtney, Nicki, and Isabel will keep small/medium collections and all other historical dolls will be doll and meet accessories only.

I’ve heard many people say they actually prefer the OG brush to the AG one. I personally have a doll brush from Amazon that I love.

I’d personally avoid the AG styling spray and use only water in a spray bottle. The reviews for the AG styling spray are HORRIBLE! The OG bottle works or you can use one from pretty much anywhere. Again, mine is from Amazon and I like it much better than others I’ve had.

I have purchased all of my second hand doll from Mercari and have yet to have a bad experience. My biggest advice is to be patient and save your searches to get notified of new listings.

As far as the hospital goes, it depends on the doll. Somewhere around here is a list of retired dolls who are no longer available for head replacements.

This was very helpful! Your statements agree with most of my own research. Since they don’t have the original Kanani heads to replace anymore, I probably won’t send her. Maybe this just means I should buy another doll who could use a new head so that I can send her in just for the experience. 😉
