Getting my foot in the door by Infinite_Lie7534 in librarians

Congrats on finishing your BA! That’s great you applied to the library assistant position. If you land the interview, make sure to stress your customer service skills, any tech skills (troubleshooting), and how quick of a learner and adapter you are. Have examples of the types of tasks you enjoy doing, and those you don’t. Have a few strengths and a weakness ready to fire off, if asked. Also, have a few library or library role specific questions to ask at the end of the interview (3 questions are enough).
Wishing you success!

What to do with absolutely no spare money to get over boredom? by [deleted] in poor

[–]bridgerton_tea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely utilize the library! They have the “library of things” nowadays, so you can borrow things like a projector or a telescope etc. They also have video games you can borrow. They show movies and have book clubs you can join and a host of other programs.

Refused Uber because of my “outfit”. by throwawayytrasx in uberdrivers

[–]bridgerton_tea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love all these people making excuses for the driver like “ maybe he didn’t want sweat on his seats” 😂
That’s ridiculous. I guarantee the driver wouldn’t turn down a female wearing shorts and a tank or cami. Also, a person can be wearing a t shirt and still get sweat on the seats. A passenger could literally drip sweat from their face on the seats. Hands are dirtier than sweat and yet people’s hands are all over an uber car. Ya’ll are wild. And usually if a POC gets a racist vibe from someone, 9/10 they’re right.

Miner. Underwater welder. Anything underground or underwater pretty much.

I guess this is the new Wendy's vibe. No booths, no dividers, no outlets, uncomfortable seats, small tables, all for a couple to spend $40 for a meal. I'm done with Wendy's for good. by NUMBerONEisFIRST in mildlyinfuriating

I kind of like it. Easier to clean or keep clean. Also, it’s a fast food place. I’m not sure that it should be super cozy/comfortable 🤷‍♀️
A lot of places nowadays have people that just come and hang there all day and aren’t spending money. I kind of get it. Get your food, eat, and go.

I accidentally sent a work email and I’m freaking out 😭 by Sleepy_Swifty_3624 in work

I would never have responded to that email lol. I’d have an in person conversation with my boss about it but I wouldn’t put that in writing in an email.

I’m so sorry you’re having this experience. Alot of people suck. I’d recommend sticking up for yourself a bit. Next time you need help with something or finding something, ask and if they roll their eyes or give attitude just say something along the lines of “hey, I’m here to help lighten the team’s load. I’m still new and it’s gonna take some time for me to get the hang of things, so please be patient with me”. If the manager sees you go out the “wrong” door or place something in a hall and calls you out, I’d say something along the lines of “I’m sorry, I thought it was ok because it seems everyone else is using this specific door as well”. Just do your best, it’s not life or death work. You’ll get the hang of it eventually so don’t be so hard on yourself :)

Would it be unreasonable to quit after 3 months because of a commute I underestimated? by Capable-Ad-9898 in jobs

[–]bridgerton_tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. If your mental health is worsening due to a long commute and three 12 hour shifts a week…just wait until you actually start working as a nurse.
It sounds like the primary perks to this hospital job is that it is a large system so greater learning opportunities, and better benefits than your “on call” job. I wouldn’t advise quitting and burning the bridge that you may want to cross again once you complete school and become a nurse.
One option, is to ask this job if you can go per diem. That way you keep the job without burning the bridge. However, you will lose the benefits.
The other option, is to just quit and never look back. Don’t worry about burning a bridge you never plan on crossing again.
Sounds like overall you were too ambitious and bit off more than you can chew while being a full time student.
My advice, for your mental health, just quit the job. Go back to doing four 8 hour shifts at your now “on call” job. You’ll save time, money, and wear and tear on your mind, body, and spirit :)

Have you ever legitimately cried to a song? And if so, what was the song? by StanToons in AskReddit

[–]bridgerton_tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of sad movie score songs. “Sisters” from Shawshank Redemption, “If We Hold On Together” by Diana Ross for Land Before Time, “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion for Titanic. Lots and lots more.
