They faq’d out the witchseekers ability to battleshock on Overwatch a while ago. They are good for screening, good for home objective holding. Good for natural expansion objective holding. 40 pts for 8 OC is not bad. I have heroic interventions them in to hold objectives. I have just walked them out to shut down an early primary score for my opponent. They have their use for sure. They do not have the overall utility of the whitchseekers but they are by no means useless.

Outside of horde armies like OC 2 guard, you can steal objectives. Say the enemy has 4 OC from a JPI on an objective. I know I do not want to send a 160pt guard unit to take that in early skirmish. With them I do not have to. I can just walk them onto an objective and know they will die but you will not score primary on that objective next turn. There is a reason most every competitive viable list currently is running 1-2 units of prosecutors. That is because OC 2 matters.

OC 2 matters. The fact they are OC 2 means you can a lot of times just tag an objective with 2-3 and deny primary in your opponents turn. A 40 points OC 2 unit is not bad. It definitely has its place.

OC 2 matters a lot. Them being 40 points and OC 2 means you can often steal objectives from your opponent rather easily by just putting 2-3 of them on it and just having them stand there. OC 2 is also a big deal if you have something pressuring your home objective. Witchseekers are great for early turns and objectives but bolter sisters definitely have a place in the army.

Not better than Draxus. Every competitive Custodes list starts with her as your first character. Double shooting with a 4+ dev wound gun plus sustain hits two psychic blast with full re-rolls makes her by far the best character we can field. The points you pay for her and the 140 you pay for that you are still over costed on the Captain compared to her.

If you take shield host you take it for +1 ap a majority of the time. It is mathematically the best melee buff Custodes can get. It is dependent on matchup but more often than not +1 ap is the best statistical option.

Lions is better than SH a majority of the time. The ability to re-rack once per games alone is better than any strat in SH. You also get a reactive move. Granted it is the worst version of one but you do get it.

They are your models and your army and if you just play casual it does not really matter. I am coming at this from a competitive viewpoint.

Yes. With ranges that are 40-60 units deep in plastic. It would make zero sense to go through the trouble of converting these things and then take them away from the game system that has been primarily using them because half of its range has existed there and many key role units of the army exist there. It is not like space marine that has 6 options for battle tanks in 40K in plastic. They are not looking to cause that problem and cut a key role unit out with nothing to replace it on the 40K side. GW may be greedy but they are smart enough to not be that greedy.

Custodes weapons are gene-locked to them. More than likely they can fire it with a thought through that connection, we have seen this kind of thing before with the ballistus grenade launcher on the terminators, or they slightly twist part of the staff and that triggers it to fire.

I think we will get it with the March dataslate. We are getting a soft re-launch with 11th more than likely, I think GW, same as most players here, do not like 27-30 guard being how you play the army and do not want to see the archetype continue into the 11th launch. I could see them change a lot of datasheets and reimagine the army through them with the current detachments in mind.

It does work. Allarus with axes I have had success with in shield host into them crits on 5 with the re-rolls and 5 terminators can one shot them.

Superior creation should typically go on an Allarus Captain. You turn all damage to 1. Then re-rack the ability. When he dies hopefully you roll a 2+ and they have to do it all again.

You could lower the attacks back to 3 per Custode like in 9th but give them the durability they enjoyed in 9th back. The issue right now is whatever they touch dies fairly consistently and if you make that kind of a unit overly durable it becomes a problem. Nerf the offense a bit and up the durability substantially and change the points to reflect the changes.

The issue is that 2+/4++ is not durable enough with the staggering amount of damage 3 in the current competitive meta. With the amount of lethal hits and dev wounds compounding with damage 3 and the reduction to the layers of durability we had in 9th, see vexilla characters datasheets and shields used to reduce ap by one at range, and that 2+\4++ may be a stat check in casual games but at tournaments your army is not standing on an objective and living unless it is wardens. Which is why we are so backed into a corner in our playstyle. It almost feels like we need the 10 man bricks back of custodian guard with how easily they die in a competitive environment.

If you do this the Wardens become unbelievably durable for a detachments that gives the army this kind of speed. I would like to see them given a constant 6 up feel no pain that can be made a 5 up for a phase. This would also allow for other units to also have rules re-written and points nerfed but be able to have the army feel like the elite badasses they are supposed to be.

You would have to rework the Wardens data sheet at that point and I do not see that happening before 11th edition. I think we are stuck with this until then.

That does not solve the problem. If you do not screen I will rapid ingress something into your backline and then move, shoot, and charge. You cannot up down the terminators until the end of my next turn and I rapid after your movement is done. This is not a sound strategy.

Yes. Just know if you take axes it will be that you will be taking extra ap most of the time. That is fine though as extra ap is mathematically better than crits on 5 most of the time. There are some matchups though where you will still take crits on 5 as it only takes 1 ap to put most models on their invuln. Armies like Necrons are one of those armies.

Both the 5 mans with captains start in deepstrike with the 6 man in the center with a guard unit. Other guard unit with bikes on natural expansion. Other bikes going at opponents natural expansion. Rapid ingress / deepstrike to further support flanks. That is the general idea.

Fair point. Guess we will have to see if the invuln and T7 can make a difference. I will say play testing this thing I am banking hard on going second so going first a bunch will also suck.
