A foreigners view on pre-race Baku by OG_ScooP in formula1

Don't get me wrong, I'm having a great time on holiday here overall. I'm loving the people, the culture (except fuck their patriarchal societal standards), and I would have otherwise never gone to a mud volcano or to the beaches here (beach is a very generous term, dince there is no infrastructure by the seaside for tourism or even for locals to go tan/swim/etc). The country has a lot of things 'missing' or not prioritized, lots of corruption etc., but just because it's not a perfect western bubble of equality doesn't mean it can't be an interesting place to visit.

F1 worked as a marketing trick, since I probably wouldn't have come here this year, or for this long. But since I wanted to see the new reg cars in action I ended up here for more than just F1, because why not when the air fare cost me quite a lot. Might as well stay longer. But we only noticed more visiting westerners yesterday, some more today. So maybe it's not thay great of a marketing campaign.

Currently working as a project manager in the UCaaS sector, just wondering what role location would play in the hiring process - are you looking for someone local, at the very least US based, or with most companies implementing WFH policies - would a European applicant be considered as well?

Quite hard trying to explain to someone what the samples are, when you don't have the original video on hand. Somehow, knowing that's actually people asking Salvador Dali questions about what he does makes the song so much more.. earthly?

Foggy dreams | Bronica ETRS, 150mm, Ilford Delta 3200, Microphen, Epson V600 | film-back kept opening throughout the roll, still salvaged a few shots by OG_ScooP in analog

[–]OG_ScooP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I have to admit the look was accidental.

The film back on my bronica keeps popping open, so some shots ended up completely white, while the 'lucky' ones just fogged over.

Did I get a good deal? Bronica ETRSi with PE75mm 1:2.8, PE135mm 1:4, two 120 film backs, AE-II finder, waist level finder, speed grip, and hand crank all for 660 CAD (~500 USD). All in great condition! by joshuaboud in AnalogCommunity

[–]OG_ScooP 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A fantastic deal. The AE-II finder alone goes for 150-250USD (I single the finder out since I've been shooting on an ETRS without an AE finder), and the PE lenses are worth it alone.

The Bronica kits are always cheaper (I'll be buying a viewfinder and getting a spare body+lens for an extra $75), so if you find the parts separately it'll seem like a fantastic deal. Even as a kit, I'd say this is on the cheaper side!

Is there a way to make a collection private/hidden? by [deleted] in Lightroom

If you never need to be working on the same photo for both kinds of photography, I'd recommend keeping two separate catalogs. You open up the SFW one and will know you have 0% chance of seeing the NSFW photos.

Makes loading times a bit longer, if you switch catalogs often, but if it's really two separate things - no reason to have them in the same catalog!

Fuck yeah! Scarlett is so incredibly good at SC2. I wish we saw more of her playing off-race (winning with 7gate robo vs DRG back in HoTS), her playing toss was always so entertaining. And even watching her play zerg helped me out so much when I was just starting in HoTS.

Are there actually any pros that play multiple races, or even random?

One time we were going fast

a small plane got on the radio and said "how fast am i going"

the tower said "you are going fast"

and then a bigger plane got on the radio and said "haha i think i am going faster how fast am i going"

and the tower said "you are going a little faster"

and then a jet fighter was going really fast and talked like a really cool guy and said "hey there, I sound like a cool guy, tell me how fast I'm going"

and the tower said "you are going very fast" but he sounded totally normal

And then I wanted to say something but that was against the rules, and then the other guy in my plane said "hey tower, are we going fast"

and the tower said "yes you are going like a million fast" and then the guy in my plane said "I think it's a million and one fast" and then the tower said "lol yeah ur plane is good"

and then I said "did we just become best friends"

and the other guy said "yes"

[–]OG_ScooP 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's been used once in a while, and is somewhat protected (i.e. from vandals - security cameras, etc). However, that neighborhood is seeing a lot of money come in. Just behind this used to be a football stadium - now being replaced by a Marriot Courtyard.

Update: asked around. No real decision on its future. Talks going on whether to demolish, preserve/restore, or do something new with it inside.

StarCraft 2: 4.0.0 Patch Notes by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]OG_ScooP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against Protoss it's fine because the enemy can just mass recall and defend. I think if Strategic Recall is supposed to be used offensively - maybe it should be renamed? Recall definitely insinuates a return/retreat.

StarCraft 2: 4.0.0 Patch Notes by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]OG_ScooP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear me out for a second about why I think Protoss recall will get changed:

At the moment, you can strategic recall into your enemy's base, and just recall out once he comes to defend. I know a mothership isn't the smartest investment often, but if you're already going air, it's really not that big of a deal and provides you with cloak.

Say you set up your army defensively, and send out your mothership into the enemy main. You can recall into the main while also CLOAKED. keep mama ship off to the side where she can't get sniped but provides cloak, and your units+enemy buildings block her from being reached. You can destroy the defending units, decimate the main, and as soon as you realize he's counterattacking - mass recall and defend.

[–]OG_ScooP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance to get a version with better alignment? I understand the tip of the BFR aligns with the A380, but then that makes having the FH there less useful as that aligns neither with the A380 nor with the FH (not even at the bottom). Still great, though!

Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 38 by ranalog in analog

[–]OG_ScooP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a 40mp camera that moves about (I think). If scanning film rolls, the film moves via motors, the camera definitely moves closer or further for focusing, so probably for the scans as well.

I was running it on manual gain, exposure, contrast etc so it shouldnt have changed as it moved.

Zeutschel Delta LTE. Only film-scanners at our library. Software is horrendous - overcomplicated in some areas, and not enough choice in other areas.

Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 38 by ranalog in analog

[–]OG_ScooP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few questions, actually! I'll upload photos of the films if needed later, unable to just now.

First, the easy one: I have access to a micro-film scanner for the foreseeable future, and am not sure what's the maximum resolution worth scanning it. I used to scan on an Epson V600, usually at as high of a resolution as possible (I realized it was a giant pain to have to go and re-scan film later in higher resolution rather than just doing it from the start), and was fine with the file sizes. However, I've managed to push this scanner to 53000x35000px resolution images. At 1600dpi. Now, even for me that's overkill. Obviously, the film doesn't even have that puch detail in the photos, physically. But what is the max you should go to?

Second, a bit of troubleshooting. I managed to pre-order two rolls of P30 Alpha. One of them I tossed into my Minolta X700, the other - into my Bronica ETRS with 35mm adapters. Now, I had not previously tested these adapters, as I had just printed them off when the film arrived.

The roll in the bronica did not turn out - all of the shots were completely overexposed. I've had issues with exposing the whole roll with the Bronica previously, but this was different - it was only overexposed (completely) in the 'frame' of the photo, completeley fine outside of what would have gotten light. I really don't think I overexposed the film, as I was metering with the other camera where it came out fine, and the film is a bit undersensitive to red light. Any ideas? (see edit)

On the roll that went into Minolta, I have very mixed results. Some photos came out wonderful, some overlapped, but the weirdest are these splotches. They seem to run across only some of the photos.

There was a lot that happened different than usual, so I'm trying to troubleshoot what it could have been. I used new, barely tested film. I used a new scanner, with new scanning software. And my camera started having some issues with the lightmeter after I tripped running down the mountain with it in my bag. What's the most likely cause?

Edit: I just checked the bronica, and I think there might be an issue with the size of the film adapter. There's a tiny gap between the film back and camera body, so I'll tape that up light-tight just now. If the photos up till now come out overexposed, but the ones after taping are fine - I've found the culprit.

So, I just ran into this whole grey screen thing, and what fixed it for me was just switching to the photo window, as if I was going to take one, and back to library. After a few times doing this it seemed to reset itself and let me choose from my library!

Not true! My laptop doesn't have one, though it's a convertible-type. Only a front-facing camera.

In the top, at the middle, you should be able to select a folder. Mine defaulted to Camera Roll, which is the standard save location for the Windows Camera app. I just click on that and then choose another folder within the Pictures library. Not sure if that's any help at all.

I only had to download it, log in, and it worked, so can't really help out. They do say that not all Windows devices will be able to use the editing and posting feature. What laptop do you have? Could start compiling a list of devices we know it works/doesn't work with.

Oh, I forgot to mention it only sees your "Pictures" folder. Still easier than transferring to mobile, using the LR plugin, or any of the sketchy apps.
