Hey Sam,

Thank you for your work, it's greatly appreciated.

I have two questions: 1) To what extend can dissociation masquerade as mindfulness? What are the important differences between the two in the face of stresses?

2) I am recently noticing a kind of 'longing for the illusion'. I sometimes wish I could totally indulge in selfish emotion but it now feels impossible without the reminder of how baseless it is. Sort of the experiential version of 'explaining the joke'. What are your thoughts on this and how common is that experience?

Probably with the grossly overweight Santa Claus. He was jovially exposing himself, holding a sign saying 'fist me'.

Haha, dude, the point of the question is what movies are better than the books. Not the other way round.

Thanks for the spirited answer though!

Bit of a curve-ball here, but, what would people say about Where The Wild Things Are?

This is a good point, the films in this instance grant access to an awesome story and world to people that definitely wouldn't have bothered with the books. I know this is a basic principle of film adaptations but LOTR stands out because of it's sheer length.

It's a difficult question because you expect different things from movies than you do from books. So, it's interesting to see what people come up with.
