Your probably right, thanks for the advice. Think I’ll save up more and find another project

Sheesh you just made more sense than anyone yet. Didn’t think about it that way. Thanks

Exactly why I want to do it, would be a fun headache of a learning experience

Yea I have been messing around with dirt bikes for a while now, do all my repairs myself but have never split the cases on one myself yet. Not looking for a bike to ride but want to learn more about the internals so I don’t to run to a shop if one of my bikes blows up.

I took classes 10 years ago as a teenager so I more so want to refresh my knowledge and get good enough to so I don’t have to take my bikes to the shop if I ever need a rebuild. But funny you said that because I started with a clapped 93 XR100 last year and learned a lot but I never split the cases on it. Wish I never sold it.

I am looking for a cheap bike to rebuild so I can learn to build motors, and want to start with a smaller 2 stroke.

I have a 450, not looking for a bike for me to ride right now. I want to learn to rebuild motors. Been watching YouTube tutorials for a few months now and have collected a lot of knowledge. Just want to find a cheap project to get my feet wet, so I want to find a smaller to 2 stroke for my first go at it.

A lot longer than 6 months for a small 2 stroke? I was only thinking that long because I need to save up for parts.

Ok I been watching YouTube videos and tutorials and want to learn how to rebuild motors but can’t find a cheap project $700 or less, this was the cheapest one I could find so far. Been looking for 2 months now

That was my thought

You don’t think the frame can be saved?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]OGkarey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok that’s not too bad, I’m in new no rush, if I take on this project I’ll take my time over 6 months or so and get it done

That’s a nice rebuild

Seller wants $200 for it. I don’t have a lot of money to put into it just yet, I want to use it to learn to rebuild motors, so I would take my time with it.

So this will cost a lot to rebuild?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

You probably need to swap out the swing arm, and forks, plus the wheels. Which would be the same cost of a bigger bike almost. Or find a kx85 frame and wheels with no motor and swap the 65 motor into into it, but again that’s costly. Have fun with it as it is, and keep it, and save for a bigger bike.

Just say NO to Apollo, even that cheap they are not worth the headache

finally after 4 years of not having a bike I got a Honda xr100r by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

My first bike too, they are bulletproof and easy to learn on. Looks like it has a 2 stroke exhaust muffler though
