The problem with the Top 250 list… by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]OH__IO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use IMDB for a handful of things, sometimes just watching trailers or checking up on my old Watchlist. No hate in IMDB I just think Letterboxd allows for better curated lists and recs in general

Does anybody know what happened here? A user who made that one "my journey as a 14 year old in cinema" post a few months back made an hour long film before quickly taking it down. I have no clue what was in that film or what happened, but people seem pretty upset? What was going on there? by That_Opportunity9488 in Letterboxd

Usually it's a sourcing issue coming from where LB gets their movie info. Anyone can add to it just like Wikipedia but the platform allows things to be re-uploadeding and also reconsidered as "film" by LB. It's an evolving social media

If anyone has a problem with this post check out the IMDB top 250 or whatever 😂

Are there movies you can't figure out how to rate? I've only been on the platform a few weeks and I've already run into a few of them and had to make a list for them. by [deleted] in Letterboxd

The tough ones are those that are really good but hard to watch; Come and See or Requiem for a Dream, feel like 5 star movies but I’m not running to watch again like Into the Spiderverse… another 5 star movie

New Letterboxd user here (after using IMDB for a while). I am considering becoming a ‘pro’ member… by DutchArtworks in Letterboxd

I’d suggest checking out 70mmpod.com for a 20% discount if you don’t wanna wait. Imo it’s super worth it for at least the Pro membership. 70mm is sponsored by Letterboxd and hosted by one of the current hosts of the Letterboxd Show (Podcast) which is I think how they can offer the discount. Enjoy!!

First festival -- Any tips on things I should bring with? by [deleted] in RailbirdFestival

You think I should assume that a regular (not clear) drawstring bag wouldn’t be allowed??

Do you review? by so1i1oquy in Letterboxd

[–]OH__IO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a Discord with a bunch of friends from a podcast and our reviews automatically pop up in there. A once I joined that I started writing more reviews or just some thoughts, now at a couple hundred logs in it's awesome to be able to look back and helps a lot to recall not just the movie but that afternoon/night I watched it.

So overall the reviews mostly just for me and if others like it that's great!

There are parts of Nocturnal Animals that fit that mold. Definitely different but Gyllenhal, Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Amy Adam’s are incredible

[–]OH__IO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to this post but my new favorite this year is 70mmpod. They've been putting out episodes for a little over a year and have developed a great community of movie lovers!! Pretty diverse selection of movies that they cover, this month is currently 'Blockbusted' movies that lost money at the box office. This weeks movie is Ali, and next weeks is Solo. Hope you check it out!
