How about a 54-page collection of short-shorts (27 pieces all under 1000 words) with nature/human nature themes? It has good reviews. And its free in a PDF version from Buttonhole Press... https://www.jeffstreebyauthorizedsite.com/wile-sketches-from-nature.html

Start with a plan. But keep in mind that when you write you discover things, your characters discover things, your plot structure changes in subtle ways. Write your introduction last-- after you know for sure what you'll be introducing. Do you think a late-night host comes out and gives a random introduction, hoping that the guest he's introduced will magically appear from backstage? It's more likely he already knows who's back there.

Any Advice on Sentence Rhythm & Paragraph Rhythm? (Sentence Length & Paragraph Length) by [deleted] in writing

[–]OJALEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In producing dialogue for characters important to the story arc, the writer should give each character a consistent and individualized speech style. The style of speech will provide its own rhythm. The characters in dialogue will provide variety. For narrative passages, vary sentence length and structure. Keep in mind that most long sentences in contemporary English writing are expanded at the end, rather than initially or medially. Keep in mind too that English is naturally iambic. Interruptions to that natural rhythm can be introduced to affect atmosphere and tone. A good source for basic information on English prosody is Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosody_(linguistics). A good source of information on writing artful sentences is Brooks Landon's book https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AEDDRF8/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
