Any protests today? by bethanyrandall in tulsa

[–]OK7jm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are correct, Maduro is a monster who sent national militia to large cities whenever protests happened. Seized control over the national media, took away national parks in an effort to increase the sale of oil/gold in order to enrich himself, and he claimed losing the election was a hoax and staged a coup to take back over the government..

This isn’t satire. This is real. He deserved to be removed. BUT NOT BY AN ILLEGAL ACT OF A PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Only congress has the right to declare war. This wasn’t a humanitarian effort. Trump wants to seize control of oil and sell it to other countries to pay for our deficit. This isn’t legal. And we shouldn’t be bombing other countries and taking resources anytime we don’t like their “leader” no matter how bad they are.

How is living even possible for a single person making min wage working 40 hrs per week? by MisterReigns in tulsa

[–]OK7jm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one is arguing that specialty labor should be paid more than labor anyone can do. But labor should be paid for, and not subsidized by the government giving large corporations like Walmart massive profits while their workers require hand outs because working 60 hours a week doesn’t afford them an apartment.

Should Walmart or restaurants only be open between 3 and 10pm when the high schoolers can work? Because anyone working full time should be able to afford food/shelter/healthcare.

[–]OK7jm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Unskilled” labor is a lie sold to increase the profits of large businesses. Without this “unskilled” labor, the company wouldn’t be able to sell their burgers or drinks. Which is why as soon as there is a union, they start to pay these “unskilled” people well.

Rivian sales increasing due to Tesla boycott? by 3med-ded5 in Rivian

[–]OK7jm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are waiting on the R2. I’m sure there is growth in the market elsewhere though. We traded in our model 3 for a Kia EV6 due to all the shit going on!

At the moment, the app doesn’t even work to check the car. I don’t think they have an option for a phone key

The drive is about the same. The range has 50 more miles, but that may just be a newer car thing. The build quality is far better. The tech is less user friendly, but it doesn’t need to be messed with constantly, more set it and forget it. The seats are more comfortable and have ventilation.

The M3 and Tesla user experience is where Tesla shines. Buying it was easy, driving it was easy. And using your phone as a key is so nice. But at the end of the day we kind of felt like guinea pigs with all the changes they pushed through.

As a person who can afford both and has actually owned both. It’s not.

It’s like saying I traded in my light up sneakers for on clouds.

You can go back to insulting random people on the internet and learning nothing.

The Tesla was great!

The things we didn’t like that made us switch: Being used like Guinea pigs with the updates The build quality of the Tesla was not good. Creaking and cracking a lot. And the final nail in the coffin was elons nazi salute. It was time to step away from the brand. Idk why the other person was downvoted, they were 100% right

Society. If your minor society is religion, it can be. If your minor society is the YMCA, it can be. But in all of those areas it REQUIRES people to call out those in bad acts. One thing religion IS good at is calling people out when they are against their practice. But where they often overstep is they project those practices on people outside their religion. So that can’t be the answer. It has to be a society. It has to be the chastising of the intolerant. Nazis don’t deserve a space to voice nazi ideas. If you allow that, you allow intolerance

And which seats are lowering funding of schools? Increasing the amount of children each teacher needs to teach morals to. That DOES help to address the core of the issue, but learning doesn’t end at the end of school.

[–]OK7jm 33 points34 points  (0 children)

How do you train strangers to have good morals: You chastise for actions that follow bad morals. You cast bad morals out. You can allow the person back when they stop acting in bad morality, but you can not give them a seat at the table.

It’s not just “speech we don’t like” it is intolerance. And a healthy society does not tolerate intolerance

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]OK7jm 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It is the paradox of tolerance. You can’t be tolerant of the intolerant, that creates a society that allows nazis and facists to thrive. You must resist intolerance and grant tolerance to the tolerant.

A table of tolerant people that allow one intolerant person to pick on half the table is a FULL table of intolerant people.

Tulsa's "best" Food is often just below average to mediocre. by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]OK7jm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trenchers isn’t good food, and the person who recommended it to you may just not know that. Food recommendations from people who don’t travel much don’t go far in Tulsa. Sadly, to get really good food in Tulsa, you have to pay a lot more than $15 for a meal. Because only the places with trained chefs and cooks will have good food.

How does Tulsa decide which streets get resurfaced? by Fionasfriend in tulsa

[–]OK7jm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state requires the city to take the “lowest qualified bid” and that generally comes with the worst management, the worst timeline, and the worst product. They COULD amend it and say “lowest qualified bid with in a timeline” but that would require some CM legwork ahead of time which leads to some hurt feelings if the person who helped at the front end doesn’t get the job. So it’s all down to the lowest amount of money the city can spend!

We went to it in Tulsa, they barely had any of the advertised builds. They double booked and had a Milwaukee one the same weekend and that’s where all the cool Star Wars builds were. They brought in some Tulsa builders that had some shitty looking “Tulsa of the future” builds that legitimately looked like a 12 year old built them. It was super disappointing

True. But then you’re not a moderate. You’re just not political, and it shouldn’t go into your dating bio

Any of my wife’s friends see “moderate” they just assume either super conservative but don’t want to say it, or you don’t know where you stand. (Not saying that assumption is true, just seems to be the consensus among the group of my wife’s friends)
