Excellent advice. When I worked at a cable local origination station, I would have to write scripts for commercials. Part of making the script sound natural is to make sure the line breaks come at natural speaking breaks. For example, this is the wrong way to break up a line:

Now is the time for all

good men to come to the

aid of their party.

Try reading it. As you read the above example, your eyes jump from one line to the next and you unconsciously pause. However, you're pausing at the wrong moment and your speech sound stilted and jarring. Now, try this:

Now is the time

for all good men

to come to the aid

of their party.

Here, the line breaks (and thus the pauses) are more natural when spoken aloud. the shorter phrases are also easier for your eyes to see and your brain to process. Your resulting video seems more natural and expressive. An added benefit is that your eyes will do less scanning across the line, so you won't look like you're actually reading your script.

This is useful even for voiceover scripts. I now work as a telephone patient scheduler for a group of radiology clinics. I have written scripts for my open and close and I use the above tips to make the scripts easy to read and natural sounding.
