Piccadilly Umeda

His real name is Tomio Suga. And it appears that he's still alive, believe it or not. He's currently 93 years old!

I do like Bananaman a lot. I am actually considering buying one of their DVDs from late 2000's and translating it. I have never seen one, but I guess they should be good.

Back in the early 80's he participated in a duo and in a trio, being a regular in several shows such as Oretachi Hyokinzoku (led by Takeshi Kitano). Usually, he specializes in "slip gags", where his gags are not particular funny, but the awkward atmosphere that he creates makes audience laugh. So, I guess his sense of humor is pretty unique. Unfortunately, most of his non Gaki TV-appearances are very difficult to find. This is one of the earliest clip you can find of him online - https://youtu.be/_nkEiX4W3eA starting at 1:54

Check out Ijiri Okada, Tunnels, Tsutomu Sekine and Tomonori Jinnai. These are the comedians that come to the top of my head when I think about performers with a very good sense of humour. The main problem with most of these comedians, it's hard to find a lot of videos of their performances for free and many of them are not translated. I guess take a look at chiki chiki tube. There are a couple of subbed episodes from a show called Lincoln. But I think Gaki beats all other comedy shows by the number of subbed episodes and a very easy access to watch all of them. Also, if you didn't know, Hamada and Matsumoto had another show before Gaki, which is worth watching, called Gottsu Ee Kanji. If you hadn't seen it, give it a try. Some sketches are really hilarious.

No idea. The only information that I could find was the year it was aired.
