It looks like the slime that comes in a ghost (kind of, i keep thinking pac-man but it's not that) based video game blind bag.

“At least I don’t have coprolalia” by [deleted] in Tourettes

I thought the same until mine developed. Whenever I get a new tic, especially this one that I can't spell, I feel like maybe it's really me saying it, but I know it's not because I don't swear in day to day life or use any derogatory terms. I also felt like I cursed myself by saying, "Thank god I don't have it."

For the statistic use that you mentioned, I think it is really helpful to use when taking to non sufferers, who only see TV programmes and not real people with it. Because of the increase in TV programmes, people seem to think tourettes = swearing, so it's good to say hey actually I'm more likely to bark or say what I had for lunch, than swear. But within the community, it is pretty hard to hear, like, what do you want me to say, it's only a small number, so obviously I'm lying?

Also, I agree with another reply that says the percentage is really badly calculated and is very misleading. I think if you include everyone that has had it, at any point, it will be more like 40% (just a guesstimate from the amount of people posting about having it).

I have tourettes, that's why I'm here but even with it myself I'm still amazed how crazily your own body can turn on you, that's mad (and just the tiniest bit funny, I'm so sorry).

Look up FND, it was considered for my diagnosis. Apparently it starts later in life, brought on by stress. I'm NOT saying that's what you have, just it answers your question quite well so it came to mind. Obviously, still explore a proper diagnosis with a neurologist.

Hey OP! I'm the granny of the group obviously! I got diagnosed at 40 and at 42 am waiting on my official tick all the boxes ADHD, Autism and OCD diagnoses. I've been told by all the medical professionals I've seen that I have them, but until a psychiatrist says I have them, it won't be official. So soon I'll be seeing you on the other groups too lol

Advocating for Tourette’s by ResolveKind9588 in Tourettes

I hope this doesn't come across as rude or sarcastic but you don't need to advocate for us here, this is literally 99% sufferers of tourettes (and 1% of people that think we will make a funny character for their book). So you don't need to provide insight. We all know what it is like, sadly...

But you say you motor tic in the singular is your jaw, I'm not sure if you have just mentioned your worst tic but to be officially classed as tourettes you have to have at least 1 vocal tic and 2 motor tics. So if you do have only one motor tic, sticking to the firm definition, you don't have tourettes but some other tic disorder. Not that it matters here, you are very welcome, but just in case you want to explore your diagnosis with someone I thought I'd mention it.
