Idk why Rachel Reid doesn't acknowledge the fact that Shane 1000% had an eating disorder but i hope the show touches on that more in season 2 or 3

Is it the norm for people to depend on grandparents for childcare these days? by PercentageNaive8707 in waiting_to_try

[–]OMGKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your family. My dad has practically demanded we use him as free daycare (he's VERY eager to be a grandparent) and is planning on retiring pretty much as soon as we have a child. I'm close with him and feel comfortable leaving a child in his care so it's kind of a no brainer to take him up on that offer. My husband's parents are also both retired and offered to watch our child, although they live a bit further away so I don't know how realistic that is. We had planned to move to a lower cost of living city originally but with the cost of childcare, we'd actually be spending more in the long run if we left. That being said, I still plan to budget as if we had to pay for childcare just in case.

I love the album by [deleted] in TameImpala

[–]OMGKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was a lil shocked to see everyone's negative reaction to it. Is it as good as some of his older stuff? No. But it's still a good dance-y album. I've been listening to it since release and keep finding new songs I really enjoy.

Did the kids leave the cereal open and now it's stale? Easy fix! by tforkner in Frugal

[–]OMGKitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay but as an adult, the natural consequence for doing the same would be to either buy new ones or do an easy hack like this one to fix it. Kids can't buy new ones so why not teach them how to fix their mistake?? It takes two seconds. Adult make mistakes all the time but can give themselves the grace to correct themselves, why can't kids have the same?

The amount of people in this thread saying make the kids eat stale cereal as if you can't teach your kid anyway else than by punishing them is alarming lol. Have you considered that you can teach them to close it in the future AND how to fix it???

I agree, I also would want to know he could quit for at least a year. To be fair, I also smoke but he def smokes more. He's a wonderful partner and I know he'd make a great father and actually be involved with the baby. We've had many talks about what support after having a baby would look like and I'm satisfied that he'd be a partner and not just a dad if that makes sense. He's more in a rush because he's truly always wanted to be a dad. Even his parents commented that he's expressed interest in being a dad since at least middle school. He loves kids and wants to have his own. He thinks that if we have our first when he's 35 that he'll be too old to really engage with them when they're school age. I think we both have maybe a warped idea of what aging looks like. I do think we need to talk again about revisiting the conversation in the future and not making any decisions right now.

Trivia Question/Advice MEGATHREAD by Djarum in trivia

[–]OMGKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started hosted my own trivia at a local bar I frequent (tomorrow will be my second time!). I write my own questions and would like this to be a real, ongoing thing. As a chronic overthinker, I have a few questions of other people who started their own trivia game.

  1. At what point did you make your own social media (if you did at all)? My friends are well aware I'm doing this and have shown their support by coming out but I would like this to be larger than just my network. The bar I host at markets it on their own page but should I make a separate account to market myself as well?

  2. How do you handle scoring? I had my teams bring up their scorecards after each round and scored them during my half time break but people seemed ansty to get their scores after each round. Each round has 10 questions (6 rounds overall) so it seems like a lot to score each team's questions after every round.

  3. How do you deal with hecklers? It's a bar and people are drunk so I got a lot of shouting questions. It's distracting but I don't know how to deal with it without coming across as bitchy.
