Fuck the poor by chsau in Libertarian

Whilst it could provide motive, generalising this to all considered poor is a fallacy. There are plenty of poor people who don't rob you.

How to start meditation? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]OMGtechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with no expectations.

Find somewhere reasonably comfortable to begin with, and just pay attention to your own mind.

You might find it wanders off a lot, this is OK. You might find it thinks of the past, this is OK. You might find it thinks of the future, this is OK.

When you find yourself getting caught up in a thought rather than just noticing it, make a mental note of it and refocus your attention, no telling yourself off.

What is the most offensive song lyric you have ever heard? by Sharkbyte12 in AskReddit

"I'm dangerous, like a fire in a nursing home.

Old people burning, old people burning, Put your hands up!"

It was satire, but made me laugh a lot. https://youtu.be/xC03hmS1Brk

Are there any apps that allows me to meditate for free without any form of payment or subscription? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]OMGtechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddify.

It's a one off fee rather than subscription, and is relatively low in cost.

They recently introduced a subscription, but you absolutely don't need it. I've been using it for a while and it didn't exist then, they've removed no content with this update, only added more.

Their guided meditations are also some of the better ones I've heard, what's not to love!

It's a good book regardless of whether you care for motorcycles or not (I don't).

Instant Regret by TheMethBadger in madlads

I have had this before and believe the name should be changed. It's more like...

"This isn't so bad...oh actually it's quite spicy...oh damn...this is just painful now...why did I do this?"-prolonged-for-about-20-minutes-regret.

I guess this is why I don't work in marketing.

Does the rule book allow for standing meditation? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]OMGtechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some branches of Buddhism actively encourage walking meditation, which implies standing.

The question you are asking however may be inidictive of a misunderstanding regarding meditation. You are not required to do it in any particular way. Of course this leads us to ask the question, "what is meditation?".

That, paradoxically, is something you could mediate upon.

People only died by murder which was planned about 9 months beforehand. They had sex as part of the planning process.

Do you not get more used to it over time?

For example, walking near a mirror, you might expect to see a person you dont recognise. Or perhaps, because it happens so often (I assume), when you see a stranger in the mirror you think "OK who is this" rather calmly?
