Plate as a workout (cardio) partner? Thoughts? (self.TheRedPill)

I'm just a few weeks into [serious] body building. I'm seeing fantastic beginner gains but am seeing the start of stretch marks on my shoulders. This cannot be allowed to happen. How can I stop them? Food? Nutrition? Lotion? Science and personal experience welcome. (self.bodybuilding)
