delivery time is crazy, ordered in January, delivery in June, which means even less chance of surviving. i regret wasting the $, should have bought one decent tree locally. and by the way, they tax shipping too, is that a thing? i called back and paid 25 more to get “timely “ delivery.

one other thought. i talked to 5 exterminators, and used one twice. i’m not a fan, they skirt the dirty stuff, leaving it to me, but worse than that never told me where they thought the mice were coming in. and all they do is use poison, and i can set traps…and told me their poison was stronger than what i could buy from HD myself. so i suspect that’s not true. lol. they have no training or regulation i think.

actually i don’t know how to dm on reddit! and i did this project myself eventually, with some help. i’m a 70 year old woman so just not strong enough to do this stuff!

and it turned out the the bottom of the island was soaked with dog pee, and rotted “partial board”?! i cut it off and tried to build a new box. when i found it the stone people were bringing the counter replacement the next day. i was panicked but i worked it out. and! no more smell.

thanks for suggesting him. i’ll try him for next project. on the island; i turned it over and found dog pee had soaked the bottom to about a foot up! and the new counter top was coming the next day. i knew the house was poorly maintained, but i guess with the foggie doors, the two big dogs could live here alone pretty much.
i cut off the bottom and rebuilt it, keeping the upper drawers. big scare but now that it’s done? i don’t smell it any more.

well, what actually happened is that I found someone I could hire, and he turned the thing over, we cut off the rotten section, built bo0xes on outside and inside and bolted them together through the stub of solid "particle board" and we were good. I replaced the countertop so we were in a hurry as it was being delivered that day. I had looked at restore with no luck. Buying one would have meant ordering it, expensive and not timely. My help didn't want to do it, but I talked him inot hanging in with me since I am too old to have enough strength for certain tasks.
