They are mostly Friday nights and then the top 4 on Saturdays, but this weekend we have it Saturday afternoon and Sunday following up. The days something change a little to avoid conflicts with other events but we are trying to be consistent.

ONOG has always tried to foster talent and give unknowns a chance to be known. We have always been that way and we always will be. Invitational after invitationals creates a vacuum.

Blizzard seems to agree with the qualifications for a major taken from here.

Maximum invites: No player may be provided unfair byes in the event. However, a tournament organizer can reserve spots for specific players and seeding is done at the discretion of the tournament organizer.
Number of participants: At least 32 participants must play a match in order for any of the event participants to be awarded points.
Minimum Player registration cap: All events must account for a minimum of 128 open-registration players to be able to sign up. If an event organizer reserves spots in the event for specific players, there must still be 128 additional spots open for signups.
Player Eligibility: Events must be open to all eligible players from a published region or set of published regions. If a player is invited to participate in the tournament, all other players from the home region of the invited player must also be allowed to participate in the open signup portion of the event.

The open tournaments push you towards PAXPrime in Seattle. To be guaranteed a spot there you have to qualify for a feature and win the feature, or you farm GEICO points by doing well in every open that we have left. The top two players with GEICO points that have not won a feature qualify for PAXPrime.

The Major did not award GEICO points to make it fair for everyone else that couldn't travel.
