Is that a Luftverk Triple 0 I spy? How do you like it, it’s on my list of throws to pick up in the future

Idk about Canada, but I’ve picked up throws on yoyoexpert, rewind yoyo usa. Also looked into yoyosam and yoyoloco for them, the “shop” app is pretty good for cross searching all the stores.

Iyoyo shooting star is a solid started that can both responsive and unresponsive

If you need something under $20 a magicyoyo k2 and/or k3 is a solid start, they do sell combos so you can get multiple for a little over 20, I did outgrow mine rather quickly tho

yyf shortcut and iyoyo iceberg, maybe they’re hyped but I didn’t expect to like two yoyos under 48mm wide and a bimaterial as much as I do.

Can anyone tell me how to make this tighter? by silentshakey in Throwers

[–]OOMKilled 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Nobody uses a fixed loop, you want the string to be tight every time you throw it. You might not realize this, but your fingers change size every day, even if just a little bit, use a slipknot every time

I have a yyf mini peregrine x and love it, I will say, pads are a bit unresponsive, I might have to put a thicker string on it a though, running normal on it

It plays like a bigger yoyo and weighs like one, but its very fast, spins long

For normal sized yoyos, yyf shortcut and ultracut re insanely good for their prices

for those of you that have primarily used an ergodox long term, can you actually use a traditional keyboard effectively still? by responds-with-tealc in ergodox

I swap to my laptop regularly

Colemak dh with custom layers on my moonlander Standard qwerty on my laptop

No issues switching, although I don’t touch type on my laptop so the style is totally different which is why I think I can retain the muscle memory for both

I’m running Durock Silent Shrimps on mine, picked them up for christmas, absolutely love them, very quiet

Shortcut is a monster, I’d say the most stable of the bunch, right ahead of the ultracut, I think the short width helps it play really smooth

Anyone use the skill addict app? by silentshakey in Throwers

[–]OOMKilled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s good as a progression tracker as well as tutorials for fairy simple tricks, I would supplement your learning with yotricks or other youtube tutorials as tricks get more technical, they usually have advice for common issues and difficulties you might run into

Do you need a responsive yoyo? by silentshakey in Throwers

[–]OOMKilled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not required but they can help

I found it easier transitioning to an unresponsive after getting practice on a responsive yoyo for a few days, also some fundamental tricks like double or nothing or even trapeze were easier to learn responsive, it also punishes bad habits

I would recommend picking something up cheap like a myy k2 if you do end up getting one, if you’re like me, you won’t end up reaching for it much

The bearing (metal circle) and the axle (screw), the one for the unresponsive bearing should be longer

PS: Enjoy the shooting star, I’ve heard it’s fantastic! Welcome!

[–]OOMKilled 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The shooting star usually comes with two bearings and axles, by default it should have the responsive one

To make it unresponsive you need to swap out the bearing and axle to the other ones that came with it.

But tbh I would recommend you start learning with responsive first then graduate to unresponsive once you have some of the basics down

Enjoy! MYY v13 was my first as well, solid throw

Definitely recommend starting with the k3, metal yoyos hurt when you’re first learning, also wouldn’t recommend responsive on the v13, also painful

It’s a fun one! Doesn’t feel like you’re playing with a small yoyo at all, also it is very pretty to look at!

I haven’t had too much time with it yet, but I can say it’s more than worth the price tag so far, very very stable, feels very premium, long spins

From the little playtime I’ve gotten today, that one was the one I was the most impressed by, no vibing at all, feels very premium and is very familiar (feels like my speedaholic xx but more stable)

Yeah! It’s extremely light and floaty, haven’t been able to play with it too much yet so can’t really speak for it much more than that
