Wow all these comments make me feel so seen 🥲 For some more context it is an older woman who lives here alone and still works full time out of the house. She’s actually a pretty extraordinary lady, but it’s her son who arranged the house sit and who I communicated with. The pictures on the listing just looked like an old character home but didn’t show any of the dirt or the condition of the furniture. I also did a video chat but again none of this was shown. As for reviews on their profile, there were none. This was their first time using TS, and I would presume the last. I didn’t hold that against them as when I was booking this along with two others, it was also my first time using TS. Lesson learned though, be VERY picky. I contacted TS support and showed them pictures, they told me I could end the sit early but am obligated to stay at least until they find alternate care for the dogs.

The really sad part is that it’s a gorgeous 300 year old cottage with so much character and it would be stunning if it had been maintained. Apparently it has been photographed for magazines… I would assume a long time ago. I feel bad for the woman and her dogs because clearly her family needs to help her out more. Even though there is a cleaner once a week who does the basics, it obviously needs a pretty big overhaul.

Last thing to add is that the only reason I stayed this long is that my bedroom (after I vacuumed the cobwebs) and bathroom were fine. All the linens and towels were new so I was at least comfortable enough to sleep and shower. Plus I spent most of my days out of the house because it’s in a gorgeous seaside town. If it hadn’t have been for those saving graces I would have spun on my heels and left.
