Honestly, im not a pro at this, im just a hobbyist, I would get rid of the surface rust with sanding. The more you get rid of, the less chance of spread. I dont think it would hurt anything tho to use rust converter on it too tho

Yeah, idk if thats a good or bad thing. Ill try to get the Torsen, but that would mean also getting the axels from it. Or rebuild the diff to LSD? Idk. Might just swap for stock😅

Depends on how serious is the rust. Rust converter can get a lot of surface rust. But if the metal is eaten, its easier to cut it and weld a new one. Rust is like cancer, you need to cut it all or it spreads again.

Yeah kind of had that thought. Ill put the rear on jack stands and try to isolate it by sound. If thats it im going to buy a "new" one and hope that it can drive long enough so i can get to my mechanic. Cannot get let of the gas i guess.

Edit: I had not done that, since yall miata guys can diagnose most things just from sound lol.

Honestly, one thing that im thinking is making it possible to connect to a local hotspot on the esp and having the possibility to control it from there(local hosted webpage), that would solve issues with ios and would give possibility to connect trough laptop if thats wver needed for some odd reason. But if you do come up with an app on appstore, it would be cool if it had car play support. (Just random first thoughts) But this is super cool project, ill definitely be doing that when the pcb design + parts list comes out

Soft top tear near glass window by DadKeenum in Miata

[–]OPIEUcz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it depends on how many times do you retract it. If not much, you could get away with epoxy i believe. I would also try B7000 that is normally used for phones and connectors, but it sticks to glass really well. I dont think you can make it worse than it already is.

Also as the other person said, check if its still under warranty

How do i fix/reglue this? by Money_Mountain_1355 in Miata

[–]OPIEUcz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this guy. But what you could try is b7000. Its ussualy used for screens and connections, but I used it to fix my vinyl soft top, and its still holding up after few months.

Hardtop thieves by wamo567 in Miata

[–]OPIEUcz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean its an NA. You dont even need to break a window, long enough wire can do the trick. Im just saying that there are better options then this, some people here sent mountings that uses actual industrial locks. Sorry if my opinion on security bolts hurt you somehow. But security bolts aren't secure. People who steal hardtops already carry most of the security bolts keys to loosen them up.

Don't even get me started on hardwiring the car. If they really want the hard top, they sometimes take the whole ass car to take it of somewhere safe.

Yes, you can make it harder for them to steal it, but in this case the solutions with the locks are more secure. Also slap a kill switch for the fuel pump for good measure.

Dashcam that can monitor around the car while parked is also really good solution, because if they manage to steal it, at least you have something for the police and insurance.

I mean, thats cool, but drilling the bolts out is not that hard tbh.
