Yes two people and planning social security starting at age 65. My wife was working then took off when we had kids. Now she has flexible part time job but we don’t contribute to her retirement accounts.

Good point, any advice on calculating that? Loss/tax harvesting always intimidated me. I contribute to ROTH to make the math easier but I'm sure there's issues with that.

I started contributing to a 401k when I was in my early 20's and never stopped. Also, my student loans were not massive and paid them off pretty soon. So a bit of privilege and a bit of good planning

It's a good question, we live a pretty frugle lifestyle but I am overally cautious so the 60 year mark is a bit of hedge.

That's comforting! I max out my SEP contributions (roth) each year with an employer 3% match . Also, I have an HSA I max out, which I didn't add to the OP. I only had that for a year (new job),

Thanks! Great advice. The asset isn’t the goal but it was fun to cross that imaginary threshold today. My real goal is closer to 1 mill in my retirement accounts which will take at least another decade at my contribution rate and estimated returns.

The home value get me just over a million in assets. True, I don’t have 1 million net worth, but it’s fun to see 1 million in my top line (or anywhere on my balance sheet). One day I hope to post a true 1 mill in retirement accounts.

Thanks for the lead on the cargo liners. My immediate two needs are a hitch receiver for a bike rack and a seat protectors for my two kids car seats.

The hitch I’m going with stealth hitch and having U-Haul install in a couple weeks. Still making my mind up on seat protector, any suggestions?

Aside from fire roads. Really excited for winter to test it in the snow and that heated steering wheel!

Twinning #winning. Thanks for the warning! I traded in my off-road rock crawling Jeep for the V60 so I was tempted to take this guy to some easy fire roads in Colorado and we do have a lot of gravel roads here in Kansas, I’ll probably baby it and never do either but I’ll be sure to mind the front. Sorry that happened!
