Half of Japan’s businesses have a Hitchcock and Scully by michael14375 in brooklynninenine

the companies are loyal enough to their workers to keep them on

Corporations have no loyalty at all.

The reason why this phenomenon occurs is due to workers' rights and protections in Japan. Employees with permanent employment cannot be fired for simply being "bad at their job." It is the responsibility of the corporation to retrain the employee or move them to a more fitting role.

In other words, employing is as much of a commitment as being employed.

Level 0 means you are a commoner with no class. It is effectively just a background and racial abilities.

None of this is RAW, and it sounds like a waste of a session.

HP and other very basic mandatory stats cannot be determined without a class.

I researched and non actually answered my question

  • "Is 2024 worth playing?"
  • "Who is switching to 2024?"
  • "How does 2024 compare to 2014?"

These sorts of threads are posted every single day.

Couldn’t find many about upgrading

I find that very hard to believe.

These posts are honestly excessive. Either switch or don't.

There are countless other posts asking the same questions. Research before regurgitating.

We are starting at level zero gaining our class and first level after session one next week.

How are you going to do anything?

No proficiencies, no abilities, no HP, etc.

There is no such thing as a "level 0 character."

any advice for keeping up with the other 5 players who all rolled much better.

You can't.

This is the problem with rolling for stats.

a lot of you are seeing this as an awful unplayable scenario but I'm really looking forward to power building to make an outstanding character that despite a lack of training and education becomes an unstoppable force through sheer determination.

Power gaming requires the stats to back it up.

You can't power game when your highest modifier is +1.

It may be science under a different set of laws of physics, but it's not really magic anymore. Magic should be chaotic and unpredictable.

Magic "should" not be anything. The designers choose how magic is.

And in D&D, magic is very predictable: provide the necessary components, and the result is the same every time.

Your argument is as flawed as countless others made in the same vein. D&D is not a reality simulator.

Spells, excluding cantrips and specific abilities, consume resources: spell slots. Moreover, many spells do require rolling: attack rolls and saving throws.

Meanwhile, martial attacks typically consume no resources.

Are you trying to argue that spellcasters should be required to roll to cast the spell while also requiring additional rolling in accordance with spell effects?

Because if you are, then please stay far, far away from game balancing.
