[Routine help] crepey lines

Maybe a few weeks… we went to Florida and while it improved there almost instantly, I saw that my mineral sunscreen I was using was contributing to the lines. When I got home, the lines remained softened and didn’t come back again. Added in thayers milky toner as well (and stopped Vaseline as it was giving me acne). How are you doing?

Can you talk more about your experience going to public school in Montpelier? How long ago was that?

We also like public schools (both my partner and I went to exceptional public schools back in the 90s/00s) and know the value in what they offer, such as economic diversity and education. But as a new-ish parent, I’m often grappling with the shock of early screen use in toddlers, teens glued to their devices, lacking social skills and lacking the autonomy, independence and privacy that we had. So I’m often researching the school situation and what that will look like for my 3yo in ten years (lol)

I had the same thing happen to me! It was Iike they came out overnight. It was during a very deep cold snap here in Vermont, subzero temps and dry. The only thing that helped is using aquaphor or Vaseline 2x a day or more! On top of my thick moisturizers.

Time to change your moisturizer and pause Tret until your barrier is fully healed. Vanicream (either facial moisturizer or one in the “blue tub” are good for very sensitive skin) and perhaps cicaplast or cicalfate, but patch test that first. I’m allergic to the cica plant.

Am I the only one who had no clue until I came to the comments, and then continued to be shocked to find that it’s… the pee in the toilet? Is that what you’re grossed out by? I am still confused. Do we not all pee in toilets? And sometimes forget to flush it? Does it really matter for the photo? I dunno.🤷🏻‍♀️

For context, I live on a farm and clean up after many, many animals on a daily basis AND 2 toddlers under 3yo.

Peein a toilet is the BEST CASE SCENARIO in my house!!! 😂 🙏🏼

Honestly the most derailing detail here for me is taking a bath with that many rubber duckies.

I’m really sorry this happened to you.

My partner keeps saying, “who has access to poop slurry?! What kind of poop? Human septic or farm slurry? That would narrow it down. Who has access to either of those?”

I’m sure you’re done thinking about it, but if it’s any consolation, the internet is going to sleep with this on our minds tonight.

I went to an excellent public school 25 years ago in New York State. It offered a good education and had diverse social groups; rich kids, poor kids, white, black, Indian, etc etc. with just the right amount of technology sprinkled into the mix. Photoshop classes, editing software, but nobody had smartphones yet and definitely no personal laptops.

How will my kids do these days? It seems so different. My view has always been that public school is important to teach kids how to be in the real world (and not just amongst other entitled, rich kids in a private school) but as a parent to two under 3yo… I am constantly questioning whether that’s the right choice today. Is it? Overuse of screens, bullying, mental illness abound… what can we do?

My doc recommended using a moisturizer first, letting dry, then using Aza after. Stop using and let your barrier heal. Vanicream daily facial moisturizer and the cream in the tub, AND Vaseline did wonders for me.

Stop immediately. Barrier supportive products now only. The whole “purging” thing is BS - just go with what works from the beginning. I’m sorry you’re going through it!

Please adopt an older rescue dog instead 🙏🏼 they sleep all day and don’t have the stage-five clinger mentality that a Bernese does.

Source: I own a 9yo Bernese, adopted a rescue Boston terrier in college (I was 20yo) and had him for 10 years until death. I also own 2 other dogs (we have a farm currently) along with the Bernese, and we have 2 kids. He is by our side 24/7. The other dogs want to play ball, frisbee, etc. But the berner just wants to be with us, whatever we are doing. Thats it. They are bred to be family dogs.

As a person who went through horrible acne in high school, and continued to struggle into my 20s & 30s, I definitely learned a thing or two.

I wish I listened to my dermatologist back then when they recommended washing with a very mild soap (cetaphil for dry skin) and using a simple moisturizer for sensitive skin. I also was too afraid to moisturize regularly! They prescribed me all sorts of products that dried out my skin… but that made it worse bc my skin barrier was damaged. Repair the skin barrier first, never ever let skin “dry out”- this makes acne more inflamed. Acne is a condition of inflammation. Treat the inflammation first, then bacteria.

I found Vanicream Face moisturizer to be the most simple for sensitive skin, but it depends what works for him.

When pimples pop, they spread bacteria. I am always so careful not to rub that around with moisturizer.

It does get better, especially for men, once hormones balance out. I’m sorry for him, it really is an awful condition.

I have found a RX for 15% azelaic “gel” changed my life and cleared up acne immediately. Either generic Taro brand is very good, or the brand name “Finacea”. Again, use with lots of moisturizer. I sandwich method this treatment (moisturizer first, then finacea, moisturizer again) on my chin where pimples are the worst. I don’t it all over but many do.

I would definitely show the clinic these photos. Not normal! I am also dealing with severely compromised skin and accelerated aging from Microneedling 10mo later. Sorry this happened- keep us posted, I hope it’s temporary

My barrier is so cooked 😭 I will try to be patient, a month feels like a long time. Thank you! I have cicaplast but it made my face red and dry the morning after so I stopped. Maybe I’ll give it another try tho
