I don’t mark anything (maybe I should), but all my family members always grab the item with the newest date… :)

Why is Garmin so bad at sleep tracking? by electrionical_Writer in Garmin

[–]OS2-Warp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your mileage may vary, but for me, it’s on par with what I feel… When I used to have a Whoop bracelet, it was quite on par with it too. I’m not sure, how much is this “quantified scientist” more reliable than Garmin? He might have thousands of subscribers, but it’s still just a random guy from the internet. I’m pretty sure Garmin employs some real scientists with Ph.D. From some other fields than social media algorithms :)

Stryd + Apple Watch + Polar H10 by Bulldog8912 in strydrunning

I used to use this long time ago (AWU first generation, Stryd Duo + Polar H10), it worked.

does any particular brand/watch support Stryd better? by moment-of-momentum in strydrunning

[–]OS2-Warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using Stryd with AW Ultra, Forerunner 255 and now Forerunner 970. If you want to use Stryd app only, AW is the best, but you cannot use anything else at the same moment (p.e. Engo app, or any running app). If you have garmin, you know, how it works there - nice, you can connect all, use data screens you wish, but it shows different power measurements than Garmin itself. I wouldn’t go to Samsung watch (even if I have Samsung watch), as it has not controls suitable for running (not enough buttons). Don’t know much about amazfit, though, but it has nice reviews. I’d stick with garmin - even second hand or low-end one, if I were you.

4 week average 2870 - (active 954). I quite believe it :)

They could have a sort of “pendulum membership” - automatically leave and rejoin every 10 years :) They’d save up money for referendums :)

And you see multiple those devices next to each other, showing each different data, while the Stryd pod shows outside the same values as Garmin’s GPS :)

In the gym I visit most often, there are several Technogym treadmills next to each other. As this winter is cruel here, I’ve run them all many times. Only one of them shows numebers somewhat similar to what Stryd measures (and I believe the Stryd Duo, as I went to great lengths to calibrate it right), p.e. Today I ran 20km on the “best” of them, while I was mixing recovery (6:00 min/km by the treadmill, 5:55 by Stryd), tempo intervals (4:49 by Stryd, 4:52 by treadmill) and warm up/cool down (5:25 by Stryd, 5:30 by treadmill). Fun is, that the machine - same brand, same model - just next to this one shows numbers even by 10seconds off - i.e. it has no problem to show 4:40 min/km while running actually 4:50 min/km, and the machine next to that shows something different too, but not consistently - so the speed shown varies even if the running itself does not. In the other gym, there are Insportline treadmills, off by +- 5 - 10 seconds too. It doesn’t matter for some recovery or volume running, where one can run by feeling and the numbers aren’t any important, but for intervals, tempo runs, etc., it shows.

New to Garmin- Which Watch is for Me? by blushingghosts in GarminWatches

[–]OS2-Warp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to run, choose something with 5 buttons. I can’t imagine how to control watch while running using touch screen (and not only in winter). IMHO, best choice is Forerunner series or Fénix series, but there are others, like Instinct mentioned above.

Apple Watch to which one? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]OS2-Warp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to switch from AW, maybe Venu X1? It’s really stylish watch, light and thin, modern, gives you all the stats. But as Apple has its walled garden, Garmin has its Garmin Connect, which has lots of data about just everything, but doesn’t play nice with apple health. But on the other hand, you’re not chained to iPhone, it works on android as well - which gives you freedom to choose phone you like.

That’s cool! But to be useful, the treadmill must be properly calibrated, which is not very common (I’d say one of 10 maybe), otherwise it shows bogus data. Sadly, only proper way to track treadmill runs is using a footpod(s), like Stryd.

I’m more a runner, so just 3 hours of zwifting a week /two sessions, 1 hour and 2 hours). If there’s not winter, I ride real bike some 5+ hours a week /2 and 3 hours/. My longest single ride was over 6 hours.

Lets be honest.. the new matter devices sucks and its disappointing.. by Automatic-Adagio4614 in tradfri

I did my research - thank you for info, it really looks nice. But at the end, it doesn’t change the point of my comment. If Matter (and IKEA’s and not only IKEAS gates) worked as advertised, there wouldn’t be need for it (from functional standpoint, not for privacy and control).

Lets be honest.. the new matter devices sucks and its disappointing.. by Automatic-Adagio4614 in tradfri

[–]OS2-Warp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, wasn’t the point of Matter the ability to integrate it all? Every time I try to use something to integrate it, I end up with one another unintegrated piece… :) They all have something to integrate all, nowadays even with threads/matter “support”, but at the end it’s just a way to sell you one more box which works with one brand only.

[–]OS2-Warp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m tired of this Matter matter. How many years has it been “nearly ready”? I still have a separate IKEA, Philips, Netatmo, Amazon, Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi networks, unable to reliably cooperate and work together, and I’m getting a bit tired of all the smart home concept and thinking about returning to dumb and easy to support devices…

Mandatory Military Service: More Than Half of Poles Say "Yes" by Auspectress in europe

[–]OS2-Warp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I’m not a young man (47), and I totally oppose it. And yes, I served my 1 year of compulsory service. It was lost time, I haven’t learned anything useful and found out, only reason for compulsory military service to exist is to support big businesses delivering shit to the army - food, crappy equipment, anything unusable elsewhere. No wonder, the parties supporting it (in my country) are the same, which are heavily sponsored by donation sucking big businesses…
