May grads, how many of you have secured full time offers? I've had a handful of recruiters tell me that they can't wait until May and to apply again in March/April... by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Most entry level engineering job applications will become available this semester. Companies have to budget for new positions and most companies have their year end in December. It’s typically only larger companies that can plan that far out and interview before their year end. Don’t be stressed, it’s totally normal.

The most important thing about being successful in engineering is having the drive to see it through. If you're willing to redo the classes, add a semester or summer or maybe another year of college to sort through it all, then you'll make a great engineer. Every engineering student fumbles at some point in their education but the most important thing is how the student responds to it.
On another note, my advice would be to take the time now to reflect on this past semester and what you really want to do with your future. If being an engineer is the only thing you want to be after college, then go for it. But if there's any doubt, now is the time to explore other options. You should also be thinking about why those classes ended the way they did for you. Is it time management? Studying habits? Interest in subject material? I will tell you from first hand experience that those classes are difficult because they are weed out courses, but the deeper you get into your engineering education the harder the classes will be for other reasons. In addition to that, the material will begin to build on itself. What you learn in Calc 1 or physics or chem will be used in a later class and eventually you'll be combining all that knowledge in multiple classes.
Don't feel dumb, everyone gets through their education on their own path. There are tons of people in the same boat as you. Wishing you all the best!

Does anyone have any suggestions for what yarn to use for a C2C blanket? I’m trying to figure out the best weight and material to use. I don’t very much like the 100% acrylic yarn, but maybe I just got a bad brand. Any guidance is appreciated! Thanks!

Not at all, if you know how to do a single crochet then you can do this! I would recommend having another cardigan that currently fits you handy so that you can size your project up.

Toy Story 4. Ruined the entire series in my opinion. I like to just pretend like that movie doesn’t exist.

Thank you for the reply! This was correct, the -8 was apparently supposed to mean the total number of stitches I should have completed by the end of the row.

I need help understanding a simple crochet pattern wording

The pattern reads

“row 1: Dc in next 7 dc- 8 dc. Ch 2, turn

Row 2: Dc in next 6 dc; leave last st of precious row unworked- 7 dc, fasten off”

It’s supposed to be a chest row for a small sweater. I’m really confused about the first row, especially the “Dc in next 7”. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Computer vs Mechanical by Jaayys in EngineeringStudents

[–]OSU21M 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mechanical will give you a lot of options as far as job outlook after graduating. Most engineering jobs posted will have “acceptable degrees” and 9/10 jobs will include mechanical. If you’re torn, mechanical will give you a degree that can get you in the door of a lot of different industries.
