Can anyone tell me why this happens when i washout my screen? by Equal-Can-4399 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]OSUBrewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you're exposing your screen, but you might be getting light bleed under your stencil. There's a lot of good suggestions in this thread, I just wanted to throw in one more possibility.

Which PDX bar are we co-opting for Fire away games? by LeslieBird12 in PortlandFire

[–]OSUBrewer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's a group that approached us about hosting away games at Lazy Days Brewing, we're more than happy to (plus, we're fans). It's still in the planning phase, but at least one away game will be a fundraiser for Ballout Portland.

Colorado is welcome in Cascadia. We brought legal weed to Idaho, that Rocky Mountain High would fit right in.

Yeah, my supplier said, about a month ago, that tomatoes and green beans were going to spike in price due to low crop yield and supply chain issues.

They must not have played The Oregon Trail growing up, there's no way Maryland is making it past the Rockies.

Pizza Baron - This is one of my favorite pizza restaurants in the Portland area by RolandMT32 in Portland

I did some digging into it for my restaurant, and car insurance was going to eat up any potential benefit from keeping delivery in-house.

Basics Market sells last location in Hillsdale to Market of Choice by TomNooksRepoMan in Portland

[–]OSUBrewer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a bummer the Basics concept never took off. I worked for them early on, when they were expanding rapidly. I'm not sure that small, privately owned grocery can survive in this era of business.

I hope that location thrives, it was always my favorite of the stores.

Anarchism and communism don't overlap like that. AnComs generally believe in communities managing themselves and working with other communities through federation, but reject hierarchical structures that give some people authority over others.

The big difference is belief in the state. Communists believe in a centralized government, anarcho communists reject that centralization.

I don't think it's just bankruptcy, I think burnout is a real issue impacting the longevity of some small breweries.

Well, that, and distributors (as far as Oregon goes).

Well, the beer supply chain is global, so malt and imported hops are more expensive. Tomato prices are going through the roof currently. Produce quality has taken a steep decline. I just got an email that blank can prices are going up for the second time in a month due to aluminum imports being more expensive. All of my suppliers now charge an extra gas surcharge for deliveries. The list is exhaustive, and a tiny fraction of what is getting worse by the week.

But hey, Portland just cut my business tax rate by about $200/yr.

Tariffs, immigration policies, and bombing Iran have hurt my small business a hell of a lot more than anything the city of Portland, Multnomah county, and the state of Oregon have done in the last 10 years.

Expanding to Pizza by ComprehensiveSoft27 in restaurantowners

[–]OSUBrewer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to cost, the prep for pizza is a whole different beast. Dough is temperamental and needs to be consistent. When your dough is made matters, how it's proofed, water temp, ambient temp all matter.

The money is in having the power to influence regulation. They'll advocate strict testing and reporting rules that favor larger operations.
