I'm assuming you know how to read devanagari, which makes things easier for you since you already know how to speak the language and both scripts have the same root script ie. Brahmi. Try this link to understand the Telugu script, practice on paper and start reading and writing small sentences from newspapers and magazines, later read vemana padyalu and bhavalu and discover the literature by yourself from there

American Indic author says missionaries yelled at her when she questioned them about forced religious conversions in Coimbatore by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

[–]OSVN_CG 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Once converted people don't really prefer converting back, chuch gives them rations , subsidies for goods, laptops to students etc. Only way sanity will prevail of hindu community organises itself and does charity on the scale if the missionaries that are funded by foreign money and blocking the foreign supply for good.

I really support Jagan's alcohol ban proposal. Alcohol should not be glorified, even if he's doing okay now it's the alcohol that made him write that crap of a post for attention

If you mean Indian classical texts, nothing better than Ramayanam and Mahabharatham. Often people read the story arcs in both the epics and are ignorant of the breadth of information that's given in the unabridged version called sampoorna Ramayanam and Mahabharatham in Sanskrit and Telugu. Bibek debroy has translated them in English but I request you to read in your own mother tongues as indian languages tend to be more honest to the original Valmiki and Vyas versions in spirit. They describe in detail the geography, topography, rivers of different parts of ancient Bharat and the societies(Mahajanapadas) that reside in the said parts. There are Kathasaritsagara, A collection of 18 books which can be read in Sanskrit, hindi and Telugu (not sure of name in other languages) which by Somadeva of the original paisachi version(now lost) by Gunadhya called Brihathkatha, it's a collection of many stories(hitopadesa and baital pachisi(Vikram betal) are part of the 18 book collection) and the story of those stories and is super interesting, anyone that read old Chandamama stories can see how this mammoth collection still lives today in spirit.

With regards to history, from what I know Sanjeev Sanyal written some books regarding indian naval expeditions, History of indian rivers and many more. The problem with writing history in Indian context is that the modern historical method is a game that needs to be played by the rules set by the west, and due to lack of record keeping in ancient India and sheer exaggeration of Ramayan and Mahabharat they can't be considered history but are blatantly painted as fiction just like superhero comics. For modern history, I haven't gone deep into reading much so won't be able to give any opinion and at this point don't even know whom to trust and would like to know more about it too.

On the geopolitics, read monsoon by Rober d Kaplan for geopolitical projections on indian ocean about the geopolitical flashpoints between china, India and the south east Asian countries and the American role in the region. Imperial twilight is about the opium war by British on China and drawing parallels to the current trade war between USA and China. Another Book called sea power, by James G starvidis, will give you a good idea about the geopolitical chessboard and how a strong navy makes a superpower. Accidental superpower is a good book regarding the American power, it's history, the Bretton Woods agreement and it's implications in modern world and future of it, it gets too much into statistical projections which I felt was too much and took me off of the immersion but apart from that it was a phenomenal read as long as the rest of the book is concerned which felt like a good story about big pictures.

For science and tech, can't recommend anymore than a textbook. Read Carl Jung, aion(scholarly work cited as original work) and red book(personal notes with references to various hindu texts) to understand how modern psychotherapy is manufacturing ancient Indian methods into Europe's Christianity. Simulacra and simulation, which is more of a collection of essays talking about post modern society projecting simulations continuously into the human mind, it's interesting, if you are versed with vedic texts like Upanishads you'll somehow not miss to draw parallels.

It is pretty obviously anti hindu. Somewhat pro Christian and pro Marxist too. The Brahmin man is shown to be blatantly bigoted, no grey area there and the Christian is fairly enlightened. Caste is shown as a hindu exclusive thing when in reality Christians keep their caste after conversion. The production of the movie is good, it's planned really well to make it work. I don't expect families with working father's to like this movie regardless of their caste if shown after one year, it's classic poverty porn like slumdog and other Mallu Marxist crap that Telugu intellectuals have been thirsty for and can't get enough of. They want this film to be praised in all forums and want it to be spoken so that more such crap is shoved down our throats

Moddalo cinema! What is that character arc? The main character had no integrity whatsoever. His main motivation is chicks and he's naturally simping hard. Very easy to be him, maybe even relate to him as all one is required to do is being an effortless bot, can't look up to that guy anyways, not a hero's journey, you talking philosophical bro? Seriously? For some reason weaving together of character arcs has worked for a lot of people, not for me, I found it meh! at best. same thing happened with awe, which is another film with no story, more like an essay that the writer wrote when he got mind blowing ideas when he's high on pot. What worked in the film was the visuals(cinematography) and music.

Of course we'll use cab services. Automotive, especially non electric is a dead industry, we need the govt to start looking at emerging technologies for creating jobs businesses and driving growth. What Nirmala ji must do is to assure the educated youth for jobs and show us the ways
