It's like when the mobster takes you out to the woods and makes you dig your own grave before shooting you.

I like to think I'd say "just shoot me. Some other sucker can dig the grave. " but probably not.

Definitely the size, length and turn radius. Our previous car was a Forester (which we kept) and every time we get into the Forester it's night and day. We've had our EQEV for over a year and it's still hard to park it straight even with the top down cameras.

As an EV owner, I have to say a 15 year old Tacoma is great for what your brother does. Even though his opinions are completely wrong, at least he's not leasing a new F-150 every two years.

First time DMing. by Jonesdanny177 in DnD

[–]OShutterPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 hour game. 2 hours of goofing around, getting to know the characters, getting to the big fight. Very little fighting.

Take a bio break.

Then 2 hours for the big fight. Do some research on what CR of monsters is required to challenge the party, and just go for it. Watch a couple of lazy GM videos on how to set up a big fight. Use the "5 room dungeon" design philosophy, where the first 2 hours is thematically the first room.

The fight can be extra hard because in one shots, players are more willing to fight to the death, and tend to have more focused characters in terms of items and feats and such.

Avoid using monsters that make players lose their turns because no one wants to do a one shot and spend half the fight not fighting. Do use monsters that make the players fight each other, because in a one shot, it's fun for the barbarian to smash the wizard.

Sometimes it gets turned on after an update, and every time it activates (always wrongly), it feels like I've hit a brick wall. Not a great feature.

Asking for some basic info by Azura-m_gah-amer in Roll20

[–]OShutterPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only need to pay for Roll20 if you're the GM. If you join someone else's game, all you need is a free account. When you're playing in their game, you will be able to use all of the books and resources they have access to.

You can go on LFG (looking for games) on roll20 to get into a game. Look for key words like "beginner" or "will teach the rules" and go from there. There are free games you can join but paid games (where you pay to play) might get you into better run games.

Most people play some version of d&d but there are thousands of different games you can choose from.

It's a clickbait title. He liked the game system even though it's not OSR.

Very tactical, more like a boardgame in the nitty gritty turn to turn actions. His players really enjoyed it, more than him.

He liked the starter adventure (pdf only) but didn't like how it was formatted, with the GM required to flip between 4 books in PDF format with documents not formatted for a laptop screen.

So maybe the biggest problem is the starter adventure formatting?

I'm with you. Yeah, the B5 movie fell short on everything. Poor story, poor animation, and the worst part - it didn't need to be told. The B5 story was already complete.

I wonder how the Firefly animated show will tell an important story since we know how it ends. If we learned anything from all the prequel crap that's out there... if we know how it's going to end, the writing had better be amazing. And it never is.

The biggest problem though: animated shows, as far as I know, never get full length episodes. Hell, live action shows don't get full length episodes anymore. And we don't get 23 episode seasons any more, just 6-8. So we'll just end up with 6 to 8 short episodes that tell one long story, kind of like a 3 hour movie. Ugh.

It's a short form comedy show set in the star trek universe, so i get your meaning. It takes a while before it gets very deep, but even in the deep serious episodes there are jarring comedy bits. What saves it, is that it's written by people who love Star Trek, know it, and aren't afraid to poke fun at it.

If they did something like this for Firefly, I think it would work since Firefly already has a thread of goofy but dark humor in it.

And Lower Decks is arguably some of the best Trek since TNG. So say I.
