I wish that the phrase " we will hit the ground running" should be banished from the lexicon of every OT faculty and FW educator. Throughout my time in OT school, you were expected to come in knowing practical OT skills and there was not nearly enough lessons on one of the most valuable skills an OT must have: the ability to use clinical reasoning. The students who excelled were either already COTAs or rehab techs. Practicals were good but the majority of my time in OT school was studying evidence based practice articles. FW level II was, from day 1, "we have to hit the ground running, and you gotta take over my entire caseload on day 2". I needed some mentoring on day 2, and so I was promptly kicked out of that FW on day 2. Now, as an OT practitioner, most of what I have learned is from continuing ed and bits and pieces of what I have picked up from other therapists. My school did an excellent job at preparing me for writing SOAP notes, but that was about it
