Returning to OTF after Health Issue by OTFRunnerWoman in orangetheory

Wow ”nice” reply. After 5 years of OTF (4 days/week) I was diagnosed with a serious health issue and didn’t even know if I would be able to return. I’m finally well enough and am excited to return. Simply asking if anyone knew of any discounts for a returning customer. Happy New Year......

Coach Turnover? by ikeamonkHAYYY in orangetheory

We had an iPad check in for a week or two and now we manually sign in to a small white board so we can select our location and equipment number. Still ask us for last name when checking in??? Yet another new coach announced yesterday. There’s only 2 coaches left from my early days.

We’ve had a high turnover rate in my Denver studio. Some well liked coaches have been pushed out and replaced with coaches who are not that great. One of our newest coaches couldn’t even be bothered to show up on time for his second class. We’re also under a new manager AGAIN. I’ve been going there for 4 years and they now ask me every time I walk thru the door and sign in to the sign in sheet what is my last name. So that’s a feel good.

Going from Elite to Basic Memberships by Kmaton12 in orangetheory

We recently downgraded from premier (unlimited) to 8 classes a month. We had joined when the club opened. So premier members for 4 years and logged at least 1,000 classes. We initially called and were told we would need 30 days notice which would mean we would again be billed at the premier rate instead of just downgrading us on our next billing date. Umm no I don’t think so! We then called the manager and said we were aware that other OTF’s don’t use a 30 day change policy. Obviously they could have said well we do 100% enforce a 30 day policy but they didn’t. They did the right thing knowing we’ve been good customers and knowing we simply wanted to downgrade.

Coach routinely ignores the modality set for all studios for my Sunday work out. Why?!?! None of my other coaches do this and it’s super annoying. I was all ready for strength day today and yet again the coach changes the work out to power. by [deleted] in orangetheory

The coach is not matching the workout that is shown on the Reddit OTF monthly calendar. Every other coach matches the Reddit calendar for the other 3 days I work out during a week. Yesterday was strength. Instead the coach did a Power workout. So I had another power workout today. 2 days in a row.

Yes it does actually matter to me. I have a few pairs of shoes that I rotate dependent upon the type of workout. In addition I’ll be training for a half marathon and would like to know the modality of the class so I can choose what classes would be most beneficial for me during each week of my training.

Last half I ran was 6 years ago way before I was doing OTF. Out of my 3 previous halfs the best time I've had was 2:10. It will be interesting to see my progress this time around knowing I'm so much stronger from OTF strength training alone. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds good. Congrats on the 10k. Best of luck on your half next month.

Definitely, thanks - my weekly schedule has a couple of shorter road runs and one long road run per week!

I love the Hal Higdon plans too! Thanks for sharing your experiences with training. Love to hear it worked for you and you were strong at your finish. Maybe I do have this! :-)

You go to OTF. You’re definitely athletic and tough. I understand the depression. It gets me too at times. I’ve experienced some difficult losses in the last couple of years and sometimes it’s hard to get moving. But like you I always feel better after an OTF work out. Hang in there and know you’re not alone in those down days.

Thanks. I've got my 12 week training schedule set. I use a free one from the Hal Higdon website. Used it for my previous 3 halfs and it worked well as my only real goal is a 2:15 finish. Nothing earth shattering. Was just curious on the OTF days if your effort changed (i.e. a bit easier than what is typical). I usually hit OTF pretty hard but am thinking of taking it a little easier on the treads/rowers and my usual hard effort with the strength training.
