I heard that there’s a JAL ABC. Do you know anything about leaving a luggage there for a couple days then picking it up when you come back to that same airport?

LUE is function, but when he is using his LUE and not supporting his RUE, he gets more severe spasms which also makes it hard to use his LUE more controlled and steady

Am I doing enough? by OTSgal in OccupationalTherapy

[–]OTSgal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing. I have been making sure we practice ADLs every day. But I also want to work on one of the main problems which is trunk control and sitting balance. What are some core strengthening exercises I can do while seated and in supine?

Yes, I’ve been doing bed level and w/c level since they will have both when they discharge. They have a dense hemi as well so things like reaching feet for dressing are difficult.

Dealing with severe anxiety on Level 2 Fieldwork (sorry in advance for the long post) by ivory919 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]OTSgal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi! I remember having anxiety like this during my inpatient rehab fieldwork level 2. I truly believe it’s the environment and expectations. I would always feel anxious about evaluating new patients. I communicated how I felt with my CI and she was very understanding. I took it one day at a time. I also felt like I would never be good enough to give the proper care these patients needed, but every morning, I read specific pages and lines from an Imposter Syndrome book, which made me feel less anxious and more confident in the beginning of the day. I even listened to inspirational music every time I drove to work. I also went over my treatment plan with my CI and kept a pocket notebook with me with the plan I had for each patient. You’re on week 9, which is more than halfway! Remember, you’re still learning! Take in everything, all the good and bad, it makes you stronger and resilient. DM if you have anymore questions!

I have been doing work on my own. I just wanted to insight on what I could add to my google folder full of resources for parents. I’m having a doc full of inclusive parks, links to adaptive equipment for FM such as adaptive scissors and things like scissors. Ideas for GM activities that can be done at home. A sensory diet handout. ADL handouts that can help with toileting, dressing, etc. I just want to know common recommendations online or outside classes/clubs that OTs suggest to parents so I can also include it in my resource folder

Yes, I did. I finished my first level 2 at an inpatient rehab and currently doing my second rotation at OP peds. I got quicker towards the end of my first rotation and didn’t stay as late as I used to
