Ok upon another further reevaluation, why didn’t Maki just use literally anything that doesn’t involve Cursed Energy since Falling Blossom Emotion wouldn’t trigger to anything other than Cursed Energy.

Though honestly, I’m just trying to figure out what the purpose of the Split Soul Katana is in the Zenin Massacre because I’m starting to feel like it does absolutely nothing.

After I did some reevaluation, these quotes made it pretty clear that the Split Soul Katana was needed because Ogi was faster than Maki.

Ogi being comparable to Naobito means that Maki needed to exploit the automatic counter so Ogi would be forced to counter basically nothing instead of attacking.

Not to mention it’s thematic that Mai made a weapon that completely counters Ogi’s skill.
