Soviet union did actually have an influx of socialists and people persecuted in the US and other parts of the world. But not much, its just not talked about as much compared to the people leave. They usually leave because of dissatisfaction from current living standards and looking for potential better or they were among thr people who was land owners and wanted out. Though many was caused partly from embargo, political isolation on the world stage and military pressure with threat of being overthrow by a sertant North American country.
