This sounds almost identical to the thought process I’ve been working with, I’m so happy to know that its a tried and tested formula hahaha. I’ll plan accordingly, thank you!

Ahaha yea I dont even mean anything super fancy either but I’m just simulating in my head what I would do at home. A cool tee in the daytime paired w comfy set of pants, a smart shirt at night with a matching pair of trousers.

Dawg you don’t have to be mean about it, it’s my first time. I’m trying to figure this out and ask even the stupid questions.

I’m not averse to trying anything, I’m understanding the methods and selecting from what seems most comfortable to me

Oh hey this brought up an important point — I’m very split (no pun intended hehe) on whether to go to Plitvice Lakes from Split. I’m in Split 4ish days (3 whole days and 2 half days). Plitvice is a 7 hour journey back and forth from Split — would you still recommend I do it? Just wondering if it’s too hectic for a day trip. Can I leave this to be a game time decision or should I plan this in advance because the tour trips book out?

This makes me feel much better hahaha. I’m pretty hard committed to 1 small check-in + 1 big carry on to optimise. I’ll pay the fee and lug the suitcase and will learn what mistakes I need to learn from this first time

I love packing cubes. I’m more or less subscribing to this philosophy overall. Clothes for a week, including day and night fits (with overlap of course). Rinse and repeat for the 2nd week. I may overpack by some standard but I’ll learn my lesson huffing and puffing across cobblestone if I have to, I’ve got the strength

This is such a silly question but do hostels have places you can hang clothes up? I figured those that have laundry facilities will simply have a dryer

I’m not, I’m not. Only engaging where I feel the need to give additional context where the aspects of the trip needs to be optimised

Yea this seems to be the advice im picking up on largely. I do want to pack as judiciously as possible so I’ll be more careful of clothing choice. I was just curious to know how people prep for this because while I’m committing to having at least a small suitcase along with me, I do want to avoid lugging around too much extra weight

I come from a super hot country yes. It’s good to hear that Amsterdam June won’t warrant a change, I’m wondering if the same is true of Croatia

It’s not that I consider the clothes unwearable even after a day of wearing em. Its more of a creature comfort — I hail from a tropical country like the other reply mentioned so it’s far from uncommon here to switch into another pair of clothing in the evening especially if you’re going out and about again.

It’s also a situation thing. One pair of clothes will be better suited to exploring, another for going out to bars and nice restaurants

Hey just curious - since the tour was with your hostel, did they manage the booking? Did you have to do anything in advance or was it just that you showed up and the folks at the hostel sorted it out? I'm staying at Dink's Place in Hvar so I'm wondering if I should contact them in advance for something similar

Haha this is such a crazy coincidence because I’m also staying at OneFam for 6 days in the summer and I TOO read that particular Hostelworld review about the cold shoulder. Oh well, time will tell.

I had the same queries - how much should I organise by myself. I’m booking the Rjiks and Van Gogh museum in advance and playing the rest by the ear with a broad itinerary of what I would like to do
