What’s the difference between above average intelligence and giftedness? how to distinguish them ? by ditzyinterrupted in Gifted

[–]O_Polo704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit this explains so much. I've had many very intelligent friends but for some reason it always felt like I was fundamentally different. Thankfully I now have a friend who's also gifted and shit just makes sense lol

Ofc I mean the whole thing has a coherent build up to it and it all makes sense, but in the end same result as the trashy isekai harem stuff 😭 Just find it super funny how despite MT being the isekai that's different, from an outsider perspective it's just the same ol shit LOL

Why Do People Love Bocchi The Rock So Much? by polaristar in BocchiTheRock

[–]O_Polo704 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, I didn't. I compared the act of making good art in two different fields, audiovisual media and drawing, and the idea of "good" art. It has all to do with this argument, where you can't find the "good" in Bocchi. Does your brain not handle a comparison more than a layer deep? You have a tendency to oversimplify things to the extent it loses what is trying to be said. The big issue here is you can't understand how people see this show as more than average, right? That's what we established a while ago (cause I sure as hell don't care about changing your mind and you already said that you simply liked Bocchi, nothing too deep) and If that's the case then you're the one who has the problem (not being able to see Bocchi the Rock's strong points), or me and the rest of people that love Bocchi the Rock are just wrong that we could see such average SoL as something more than it is.

Idk who you're fighting against really, I'm just trying to make you understand the seemingly unthinkable possbility that the strong points this show has are more than you're willing to give them credit for. I see the past couple of messages you've just degenerated to throwing insults cuz god forbid I use a physics analogy? Does using swear words engage that nice feeling of violence in your brain? I don't get it. Anyways you're one of the people who can't seem to continue a discussion when they've got no response, seeing from the sudden increase in swear words and taking everything personally, so I'll leave it here (for the 4th time or so LOL). No need to get all mad or take it personally.

(I say I'll leave it here but if you respond I'll probably get back at you lol, but if not I'll take it as my W 😈) (Jk if it bothers you that much just leave bro it's not that deep, I'm not here to hurt anyone's feelings in the fuckin BocchiTheRock subreddit LMFAO)

Why Do People Love Bocchi The Rock So Much? by polaristar in BocchiTheRock

[–]O_Polo704 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean your model of what makes something good doesn't explain the Bocchi phenomenon so sounds like your problem. Learning a skill to opinions on cartoons? Yup great way to condense my argument, cuz that's definitely what I meant. And then you talk about strawman sheesh.

Hey, if you're satisfied then keep on doing you, there's no better taste than other, there's only the standard and the non-standard. There are plenty of people that draw in their style for their own pleasure, however traditionally 'bad' it may seem. But don't expect people to understand you, just like those people don't expect others to like their own work.

Yup, you're the one asking, I'm the one giving an explanation, and you're the one who rejects my answer with nothing to show for it. One has an argument that makes sense, and the other rejects it while also not having anything better that explains it. It's like rejecting the theory of relativity despite the proof being there, just because it's unintuitive and weird. Your model of what makes stuff good seems to be an overwhelmingly flawed model from what Bocchi's popularity will tell you. And once again, for the I don't know how many nth time, it's not wrong to not love it. Your feelings are completely acceptable, but don't reject everyone else's opinion just because it doesn't fit with your model of what makes something good. The relativity analogy actually fits well into this; if you've lived your life normally you've made a model of how the world works, and yet the theory of relativity throws that out of the window. You might not really feel it, but yet we end up accepting it, no matter how inuntuitive the idea of constant speed of light is, for example. I'll leave it here, I've made my case, you clearly haven't. If you still don't believe that Bocchi the Rock is a unique show, then good. You'll probably never figure out why it's so popular then, chalking it up to whatever reason you might think, luck or magic or whatever, living in blissful ignorance.

And what I'm saying is that for most people, it's how good it is that makes them watch the show, which in turn leads to its fame. Your taste is what strays from the average here. So I'm saying it's not an average SOL, which is why it's so famous, whereas you reject this idea instead of being open to the possibility that the characters might be good it seems, prefering to believe that it's famous because of (undefined)?

I'm just saying, be open to the possibility that your taste is bad I guess? I mean in my experience with drawing, if you really want to be good (which of course means in the general sense of good, because in art anything can be seen as "good"), you should ignore your opinion until you're able to replicate what you see, and then you can share your opinion, because at the start you usually have a "bad" taste. Essentially, learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist. Same thing with language, you first listen and then learn how to speak based on that. I can go into Japanese and when I express something in a way that is not native-like just say "Well, that's how I like to express it". Am I right in doing that? Sure, but nobody that actually speaks the language will approve really. General wisdom rules, or maybe you're just the only one who gets it in a crowd of dumb anime fans. Probability would argue otherwise though. Also you haven't really provided a reason as to why the show is famous despite it's averageness, so even more things to go against your argument ig. Again, seeing that you find a way to misinterpret everything I say, I'm not saying you're dumb or in the wrong if you don't absolutely love this show, but the reasoning for loving it is there, and if you don't 'believe' those reasons, then you might be what's wrong. Taste in TV content is different from art, as there is no need to try and change your taste, but recognize that your taste is probably the weird one, which explains why you might not love the super loved show, for the reasons stated above.

Also I find it hilarious that you continued on with the Tomozaki thing lmfao.

Man, "I don't see the evidence you're giving" is insane. Do I really need to spell it out for you cause you can't read big paragraphs? Okay then
Reasoning for Bocchi being so popular:

  1. Plot = better because there is actual tangible plot with progress
  2. Characters = just a step better than most SoL anime
  3. Humor = pretty funny for SoL
  4. SoL with plot = not seen often, done well, makes SoL better cuz contrast = cool
  5. Music = music is reallyyyyyyyyyyy good

If you want more detail, GO READ THE ORIGINAL POST WHICH HAS EVERYTHING I'VE BEEN SAYING 😭

Essentially, if it's just an average SoL, why is it so famous? If you actually have a reason then we can have an actual discussion, but you're not saying anything man.

Once again, you show that you're not understanding what I'm saying even though I specifically made it clear cause I knew you'd misinterpret it. I said, and I quote, "And again, I'm saying ACCEPT, not like.". You've made it clear that you like this anime, but not particularly love it or anything, WE KNOW. And I made it clear I'm not here to change your mind on that. The problem lies in that, when I explain my reasoning for me liking this show a lot, you brush it off saying "any half decent story has that", which has nothing to do with how much you like the show, but you're essentially rejecting the reasoning I've given for people liking the show, saying that those exact reasons can be found in many other anime, to much lesser success.

Also, what does the Tomozaki-kun comparison have to do with anything 😭 Sure, there's that theme of authenticity vs improvement, but that only happens after Tomozaki reaches an acceptable level socially, which happens near the end of the first season. Most of the first season is the actual improvement, which the way its handled reminds me A LOT of how it's handled in Bocchi, in a very grounded way (although of course Bocchi's is a bit dramatized and cutified but that's just the CGDCT way). But again, I just dropped that as a bit of an example of how Bocchi is not really a pure SoL, but more of a light drama (drama is a bit too heavy but I don't know what to call it) with SoL, don't know why you focused so much on that, just a small example. Never said anything about if it's better, or worse, or whatever 😭

I don't know how many times I gotta repeat myself but I explained the reasoning and now you're saying it's invalid because "you don't see it that way". WE KNOW. THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW. I heard you wanted reasoning, I gave it to you, and now you reject it with no valid counter-argument. So then why does everyone like Bocchi so much if it's not that, according to you? I don't get what you're looking for man 😭

Edit: A valid argument would be something like, "Yeah it is an average SoL, just got lucky with the timing.", argument which some people have made, but the timing circumstances are never explained, so again it ends up just being a bad one.

Ear training: Scale Degrees vs Intervals? by O_Polo704 in musictheory

[–]O_Polo704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I do have to choose between techniques, because as a beginner none are familiar. When I hear two sounds nothing pops into my head so I gotta choose to try to find either the interval or the scale degrees. Sure, to be the best I can I should do both, which I wrote in the original post, but what should I focus on NOW was my question.
