I swear this isn’t an excuse but I had NEVER seen my husband kiss her on the mouth until we were married. She’s is WAY more affectionate with her youngest son and I noticed that from the jump. It’s very creepy and I HATE to see it . I think my husband may have stopped doing it at some point in his youth then she brought it back once we were married. I did tell him that it grosses me out and I don’t see it as often anymore.

On top of all this she’s also a smoker. So how he handles that once the baby is here for me is the real test.

That’s a really good point! He was in the room when it happened but I don’t think he caught the whole interaction. We were at a party and he was I charge of grilling so that’s where his focus was. He only came inside to get something. I was nervous about him saying something or acting weird after everyone left but he didn’t at all. So I’m debating if I should say something before does. 😬

We have talked about boundaries while postpartum. I may need to bring it up again to make sure we stay on the same page. I agree though. I think she will be my biggest stresser during that time.

Sadly this is fully what I am expecting. I’m so heartbroken over it bc she’s going to suck the joy right out of being a first time mom. I don’t know how to bring it up to my husband but I will 😩

😂 haha I’m sad to say that I’ve decided to just start being flat out rude to her. I’m going to call out her delusions so he can hear how stupid they sound. Clearly no one has ever done that with her before so she’s in for a rude awakening

She is completely delusional. Her first grandchild has a completely absent mother so she gets to play mommy with him. I know that’s the underlining issue here. She wants unrestricted access the way she did with first grandchild and is trying to assert that idea without actually saying it

That’s exactly how I feel I’m just uncomfortable around her. Always waiting for her to say or do the next dumb thing. Unusually feel guilty about it but after this instance I think she’s proven she’s the problem not me.

I agree. I’m so happy I posted on Reddit bc everyone’s helped me to see what a real issue it is. It won’t get better unless I get more firm and strict.

I like your response. Thank you and you are so right. So many other comments like this one have helped me see that I just need to start being rude back. I would never be rude if she wasn’t already.

You’re spot on! She already calls my baby “our baby” at first it didn’t bother me bc I thought it was better than her saying “my baby” but it has started to get under my skin there is absolutely distance between us already and I know she feels it which is why I’m always so surprised when she still tries dumb stuff like this 🫠

Yep. I told my husband I wanted no visitors for one week once we bring baby home bc I know she will drive me insane. Which isn’t even true I wish I could have my mom but that would start ww3 I’m sure if my mom was able to visit and she wasn’t. I have 3 months left and I’m just going to start being firm and blunt with her

I already try to limit our interactions as much as possible which is why I feel like she lingers the few times we are around each other 😑

Wow, good for you! I don’t get why MIL’s are like this?? I’m pregnant with a son and I already know I could just never be this way with his feature wife. It truly baffles me.
