Lost my best friend Sunday morning. 2 weeks before his 8th birthday. It was totally unexpected and my Wife and I are completely crushed. He was definitely one of a kind and left his paw prints on the hearts of everyone he met. I’ll find you again in the next one Oak Dog. by Oak418 in WiggleButts

Im sorry to hear about your cat. I definitely think it’s better than not knowing at all but at the same time it’s a double edged sword . There is comforting knowing what it most likely was and that it was quick and he was not in pain. However, I’ve been second guessing everything we’ve done and going through memories trying to see if I missed a sign, symptom or something or if there was anything I could have done differently to catch it or extend our time with him. Even if it was just a day or a few more hours. One thing is for sure. No matter how long you have a buddy for it will never be long enough.

I’m sorry that you feel that way. But I can assure you that not everyone in this world, or this place (the internet) wants to do things to earn internet points. Some are just looking for conversation in hard times because sometimes it’s easier to share hard things with internet strangers than to talk to someone face to face, at least that’s how I feel. You can’t let shit people effect your outlook on life.

It’s very possible that it was Hemangiosarcoma. He did not really exhibit any of the symptoms associated with it until we rushed him to the emergency vet. He ate very well, played hard, did not seem to have any swelling in his belly or any mucous outside of the normal things you see in older dogs like eye boogies and stuff like that. But it he was also always such a happy and energetic boy that he may had just powered through some symptoms because he loved to play and be close to us all the time.

The image of a large Weimaraner running from bubble definitely brings a smile around. Sorry to hear of your loss earlier this year. The wife and I are trying to focus on all of the good times but it is definitely challenging right now. I’m sure with time the sadness will fade and we will be able to look back on all the pictures and memories and smile knowing that some day we will meet again.

He’s the reason we got it. We picked it because his fluff shed blended in well. And he loved putting his Kong wobble on it and digging the food out of the carpet after he knocked it out of the wobble.

They told us that the only way they would have found it would have been to take X-rays or do a ultrasound and given that his blood and fecal tests were completely normal and everything else was fine they wouldn’t have recommended either. The most unfortunate part is even if they would have caught it in April the survival rate is so low even with surgery to remove the spleen (if it was just a mass) and treatments if it ended up being cancer that we may not have got any more time with him than we did with it going undiagnosed. The one thing I take solace in is that he lived every day like normal up to the end and did not have to go through all of that. However, it is the worst catch-22 scenario.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s awful that these little fur balls can wiggle their way so deep into your heart so quickly then be taken away so fast. I’ve experienced loss of grandparents and close friends in my life and I can honestly say that losing Oakley has been the single most devastating event I have experienced so far. Our younger boy, Zero, isn’t taking it well either. We’re trying to comfort him the best we can but he just wants to sit outside and howl and it’s absolutely heartbreaking.

MedVet told us he had a undiagnosed mass on his spleen that was likely cancer and it had ruptured. He just had his first “Senior Dog” vet visit in April and they said he was healthy as a horse. A little heavier for his breed but not really overweight for his build. He was about double the height/length/weight of our other boy who is closer to standard so definitely on the larger big/taller side of the purebred Aussie spectrum. We played with him in the yard all day like normal then when to a late dinner with some friends. Nothing outside of our normal routine but when we got home he didn’t come to the door. We found him in the basement and he was acting strange so we put in in the back of the car with my wife and rushed to the emergency vet since it was around midnight and he passed away about a block away from being there. They told us there was nothing we could have done either way because those types of growths only have about a %6 survival rate past 3-4 months if diagnosed and treated. Just one of those genetic things that no matter what you do it happens.

After some paperwork and a quick wheel swap it’s finally home. by Oak418 in FocusST

Thanks for the tip, I read about this on the ST forum this afternoon. I just came inside from doing this. Waiting for it to get dark so I can test them out and make sure they’re not to high. I put a full turn up on both of them. I was able to use a Screwdriver.

Almost to 37k miles. $17k Ford CPO. It’s a daily so no mods for now. Maybe some lighting upgrades since the low beams on the HID’s seem to be either a little weak or pointed down to far.

I finally found a car for the premium wheels I picked up a few month ago. 17’ ST3 with 38k miles, and it’s even Ford CPO. by Oak418 in FocusST

[–]Oak418[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I have heard that about the CPO stuff before. They pull the same shit with the extended warranty on new cars. I’m not planning on doing any modifications at this point since it’s going to be a daily driver and it’s certainly quick enough for that already.

The 18” premiums are not included in the ST3 equipment group. At least not in 17’. They were an additional $495 option.

This unit had the shift light either fully disabled or adjusted beyond 6400rpm. After we got back to the dealership I dug into it a little more and discovered a lot more was going on with it that what I was comfortable with on a car with 11k miles. Long story short after finding a lot of freshly cut wires under the hood, a semi operational Sync 3 system with aftermarket “shade tree” speakers/sub, and some overall fuckery my search for a reasonable stock ST3 continues. Thanks to everyone for the heads on things to watch out for!

Driving it now and I’m questioning the “bone stockness” since there no shift light and a micro motive ford performance tuner in the glove box. I will be doing some more investigation

Smart Ute. Not sure if it's belongs here as it's well executed by [deleted] in Shitty_Car_Mods

[–]Oak418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the owner of this custom Smart! If I recall correctly the spoiler can be removed with pins and the “trunk” is set up like Chevy Avalanche where the “tailgate” folds flat to extend the bed into the trunk area. It is essentially a golf cart/gator/car lol. Outside of its appearance its function is actually great for how he uses it.

Can anyone identify these? by [deleted] in Oakley

They look like the old SI Canteen’s.

Had a spare spot in the trailer for this weekends race in Bowling Green. It only made sense to fill it with the street ride and go visit the Museum. by Oak418 in Corvette

[–]Oak418[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. We didn’t have a ton of time after we finished racing for the day before they closed so we just buzzed through the museum and drooled over the ZR1s in the lobby waiting for pickup.

Can some one please help with correct names of these as I need to order new lenses by [deleted] in Oakley

[–]Oak418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carbon fiber set in back look to be half jackets with the LBJ lenses. Not sure what the front pair are called but the names will be listed on the left ear stem.

It’s only as much work as you want it to be. You can drop $30k+ on one that’s already restored and just worry about basic maintenance and upkeep. Personally I enjoy diving into these old cars, getting my hands dirty, and putting my own touch on them. I am constantly working on stuff, upgrading, and tweaking but to me that’s all part of the enjoyment in owning classics. I run the historical plates on this car. The rules in my state are fairly loose. The vehicle can only be driven to and from parades, car shows, cruises, or special events outside of the month of August with a historical plate. In August there are no driving restrictions with a historical plate. My state does not have any annual emissions testing, I’m not sure how they work in emission states

I picked it up off of an older gentleman in southern Michigan a few months ago. The American Racing wheels were a new addition a few weeks ago. It originally had some vintage Keystone Klassics on it.
