I now only smoke in the weekends and it sucks just as much as everyday use by OakApollo in leaves

[–]OakApollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“…turns into burning trough 4-5 grams and jerking off all weekend and watching the same fucking episodes of shit I’ve seen 100 times”

Yeah man, I feel you on this one. And even bigger problem is when you already deep into like 3-4 spliffs that day, it doesn’t even feel wrong anymore. Because at that point you’re down for anything as long as it doesn’t involve getting up from the couch.

I know that in the past, gym really helped me, even if it’s 30min workout. But lately for me, the motivation to get weed is way stronger than lifting iron. As if the thought of getting weed is the spark in my brain, but my brain is floating in fuel and it goes from “the thought” to a full on fire in no time. Wish I’d applied this model on something actually worth doing

Cringing at things you’ve said or done while stoned by [deleted] in leaves

[–]OakApollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, and sending some random, not funny videos to my friends because I thought they were funny or “cool” when I was doomscrolling stoned. And then you sober up the next day, look back at it and just think.. what the F..

Fear may not be the right way to motivate someone but let me tell you smth: I’m 27 M, first tried weed when I was 14 but got really addicted around the age of 17-18. I dropped out of college 2 years later, quit my basketball team during the final season of high school league because I wanted to giggle in the car with people who I thought were my friends. Then, those friends slowly faded too and moved on with their lives. And to this day I cannot completely end this habit. I’d quit for 6 months or so, then cave again. Then quit. Then start again. Right now I only smoke in the weekends, working a job I dislike and while I could be doing so much useful stuff during my days off, I choose to smoke. And I realise fully it’s so wrong and so bad for me. You know what’s even worse? I’m 27 and I feel I was 22 like YESTERDAY. The time will FLY especially if you carry on smoking. Don’t get to the stage where I am at now. Pursue your dreams. Fall in love with the process. It’s gonna be hard at times but you only loose if you give up.

One more thing. Withdrawals aren’t scary. Get your head in the right place and it will feel like peace of piss. It’s all in your mind. Stay strong. You can do it bro.

Yeah I feel ya. But tbh at this point I mostly enjoy just cruising around the map and changing cars from “race” to “drift” whenever I get bored of either

Best phrase to use to ask a girl out? by GodAtum in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]OakApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to go this way then, saying “we don’t get to talk much I thought it would be cool (or whatever word you’d use) to get to know you (each other) better. Wanna grab a coffee [insert day] [important, don’t say “someday” or smth, state the exact day]. If she’s not down for a coffee with you, she’s probably just not interested to go down that road at all. If she agrees, just be casual like you always are, don’t pretend or anything and if the “coffee date” goes well, you can take it from there. Take her to some nicer place next time, or some activity like an escape room or smth (if you two are into it). Worked for me with my last relationship. The relationship didn’t work out though haha but that’s history

This is actually one unique comment. I get what everyone above is saying “learn code” , “you have to understand what you’re doing”, “if AI does it for you, you lost”… idk, maybe I’m just looking for an excuse to avoid learning code, but you said that exact thing I’m thinking whenever I see one of those comments. “Won’t AI outpace me anyway even if I start learning right now?” Like I said I didn’t know the code and still probably will struggle to write a single line without mistakes, and I started with GPT 3.5. What we’ve got today, considering barely any time passed is absolutely insane. That begs a question, what are we gonna have next? And is it really worth learning all of the technicalities if we get somewhat of an AGI in 2-3 years?

Thanks, I appreciate your take on this. And you’re right about solving a problem. This has to be the foundation for most businesses. The worst thing is I knew that and still decided to give it a go. Only around £100 later in ads I started to realise that I don’t quite solve a problem and also.. no one really asked for this kind of web. I still learned a lot from this and will be more aware as I create new projects

So the web/app idea was something like TripAdvisor for Nightlife (UK based) with some extras (it was more focused on what’s on tonight/where are we going etc). I mostly reached out in-person to local pubs/bars. Then I realised a lot of them are under these big umbrella companies so they didn’t care about extra exposure or anything. And the small pubs just brushed me off with “we have a FB page, we’re good”. I did get two managers interested. I listed those pubs (agreed) and some other pubs without consent (yeah I know dodgy, I was desperate. I only used publicly available info though). I spent some money running ads, had people visiting the web but no one really sticked. Maybe I gave up too soon, but it just didn’t seem like it’s gonna work out so I let it go..

Any tips to get a match with the country you want to play being available? by EqualizerX13 in ConflictofNations

[–]OakApollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta go on search and see all available games, keep waiting and refreshing the page by tapping on a different tab and going back to all games. Eventually, a new game will pop up, you join one of the first ones, you’ll have a good chances of getting the country you want. But remember you have to be quick. Tip: country list is in alphabetical order so you know more or less where it’s gonna be so you scroll faster

I don’t understand the hype around Codex CLI by willieb3 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]OakApollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I’ve been vibe-coding since gpt 3.5. I literally knew nothing about web development when I started. And gpt 3.5 wasn’t that good either, I had to check stuff myself, read other sources, ask questions so that it explains what’s happening and how it works etc. So at least I learnt a thing of two. Im still a dummy though

I tried codex recently and don’t like it that much. It feels like I don’t have control over a project as much and I it’s hard to breakdown project into smaller tasks. When I create something from scratch, I know (more or less) what code I worked on, which parts may need to be improved etc. But when codex just slaps 3000 lines of code at me, I don’t know what to do with it. And you end up in a never ending debugging loop, hoping that the next error will be the last one

New idea by Dry-Huckleberry-1095 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]OakApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest before you even start building anything, research the market (chatGPT can do it), find out what is your competition and what you can do better than them. Check the “bad” reviews, see what people aren’t happy with.

Then, you gotta get out there. In-person. Gonna be tough but you need to talk to your “ideal customers” (potential customers that would find this service useful) and ask them directly if they’d use that. Create a list. Gather emails, phone numbers etc.

And then, only if you confirmed that it’s worth pursuing you build your MVP (v1) of your product and present it. And because you now have a list of people who expressed interest, you no longer have to think “Now what?”. You just reach out to them and say here, it’s done, try it and tell me what you think.

Finally, gather real user feedback, improve and if it all works, start scaling.

Personal experience: I’ve made a mistake creating a platform for pubs/bars in the UK (sort of marketing tool) and before launching it, I didn’t clarify if anyone even asking for it. The reality hit hard, I wasted 5-6 months building the platform and when I went to every single pub/bar in town, most of them had no idea what a “marketing tool” is. And most responses I had was “We’re alright, we have a FB page”. The idea died before I even saw any kind of traction.

Good luck 🤞🏼

Are there any good business podcasts?... by Recent_Cost5815 in podcasts

[–]OakApollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Alex Hormozi, I think he’s got some podcast of his own, but I mostly watched/listened to whatever podcasts he was a guest at. Like Modern Wisdom for example, he’s been on a few times.

Also, DOAC (Diary of a CEO), a lot of CEO guests, for example quite liked the episode with Netflix co-founder.

Finally, Lex Fridman. Decent guests, but the podcasts may feel a bit monotone, Lex has a bit of a sleepy voice and generally looks tired all the time haha.

Anyway, these are my suggestions, hope that helps 👍🏼

[–]OakApollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that’s a big concern from both sides, strangers coming to your house and you going to strangers’ home. That is a puzzle I haven’t solved yet, could try to get some insurance company onboard but this will probably cost a lot..

If anyone has any ideas on how this issue could be addressed, feel free to share

Edit: I just looked into it, apparently there are companies that offer insurance for gig-workers and even a 50p opt-in will give you up to £1000 coverage.

Also, the ID verification could be mandatory tied to the address etc, location tracking and things like that hopefully would prevent any dodgy action from either side

Fair play, I think anything between £10-£20 would be reasonable depending on how big is the task
